DP 7 has many nice features. A few are B-wave or aiff record files but 6 had this too, new guitar plugs that sound great, compatibility with SL etc.
You loose the pull out window select, positioning of buttons is completely different, still can't bounce to disk live DI's. I'm having issues with truncated notes on large multi VI projects when updating a volume on the same VI return but I hop to solve this. Sonically good but latency issues are still hanging around and some SL incompatibility is there with Kontakt and a few others.
If you are unfamiliar with 6 I would say such a leap may at first be frustrating but it does get better after you learn the changes but I'm speaking as an old school user.
Good luck.

Re: dp5 user thinking of upgrading to 7
I did the switch from DP5 to DP7 two months ago.
Att first I felt helpless with the GUI but after I installed Amplidoods GUI Gold Complete 3.1 I´m in DP heaven.

I all forgot about DP5, never wanna go back!
DP7.02 is very stable and great new features. I love the new marker view feature.
The changes in DP7 are not that hard to get used to.

I also switched from 5 to 7 a couple of months ago and have a modified version of one of amplidood's schemes which makes it all look nice. No problems so far and only took a couple of days to adjust to the new layout and features.
27" iMac, MOTU 828mk2, 10.6, DP7, Melodyne etc, etc.

Glancing at your setup, I'd say you're cleared for take off. No reason not to, and perhaps many advantages.
