Problem Authorizing DP6

Post by Keith Henry »

I know, DP6-Old School. The answer to this question may be contact MOTU for a new install disk?

This is my first attempt to install DP6 on a Macbook Pro Intel Core Duo 1.83Ghz 2GB Ram, OS 10.5.8. I installed DP 6 then, when the authorization box appears (install disk is on desktop), I enter my name an auth code. Disk spins then box pops back up.

Anyone know a work around as opposed to waiting for a new install disk to arrive?

Has anyone else experience strange install problems w/MOTU disk? As I recall, on a different machine I had troubles before w/ MX4 install.

Regards,
Keith

There's this solution by Magic Dave (second post in the thread), but the auth problem it fixes isn't the problem you're describing at all, but maybe it will work.

I had a really similar problem - if memory serves it was similar situation to what Keith is describing. I didn't have to trash any auth files in my case, I just repaired permissions and that fixed it. That was the one and only time repairing permissions actually fixed something tangible for me.

Cheers

Is there an other version on your HD? If there is it could be wanting that versions original install CD. That's the way it worked for me a few times. I noticed in your sig DP 4.61. And if your updating to 6 it could want 4.5's install CD, that's why the dialog keeps coming back... worth a try.
Or this:
Quit all running applications. Make sure youare logged in as an administrator user, then proceed.
Go to Applications/Utilities and open Terminal.
Copy and paste this command, then pressReturn:
cd /

Then copy and paste this command, then press Return:
rm Auth-DigitalPerformer\ 4.5

Or if you have Cocktail, just "show invisible files" and you'll see the "Auth-DigitalPerformer\ 4.5" file in the root of your HD. Trash it and reauthorize.
