Okay, set up the cuemix console and the pcie settings how I want them. Randomly during recording, the both the cuemix console and pcie reset to their defaults (cuemix to nothing, all muted, pcie to 44.1.) Any ideas? I'm running a quadcore pc with Windows Vista 64. DAW is Reaper, although it's NOT a DAW problem. this is clearly the MOTU device resetting itself.
And when I say random, I mean random. Sometimes I'll get a few takes before the pcie resets itself, sometimes an hour or more. sometimes the cuemix stays put for a couple of sessions. Sometimes it stays put for 30 minutes. The only thing they haven't done is reset DURING a take.
Thoughts?
thanks? I hope!

How do you know this?CMEZ wrote:… it's NOT a DAW problem. this is clearly the MOTU device resetting itself.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.
Re: MOTU 24 i/o pcie card resets itself randomly?
Because nothing changes at all in the DAW, but things do change in the MOTU settings. DAW settings have not changed at all. Motu will be set and then reset to default. (44.1 sampling rate, cuemix to all channels muted and panned center)
And sometimes they'll reset before I even have turned the DAW on. How's that?
The MOTU interface and cuemix run independently of the DAW. I can turn them on without even having the DAW on. And sometimes, they randomly reset. Thus, I would say, it is the MOTU pcie card and cuemix having a problem. ?

Check the connection cable, make sure it is well inserted in both ends and make sure it is connected to the Number 1 slot (from the 4 available) in the PCIe card.

well...I'll try that. I can't imagine the cable being the problem since it works, it just resets to default clock. But I'll try it today. Any other thoughts?

What i suggest is not the possibility of a cable problem but the possibility of it being inserted in the wrong terminal.
I once had mine inserted in #4 (instead of #1) and it showed a behaviour similar to yours.
Hope it solves it.
