Buffer size hidden is vey annoying

Post by ahimmel »

Wouldn't it be nice to have the buffer size displayed right next to the Clocksource, Sample rate etc, etc.? A dropdown menu just the way you can select your clocksource, samplerate etc would be soooo convenient. I hate opening the Configure Hardware setup only to notice that the buffer size is already set to 1024 and then hitting the cancel button and having to wait for the VIs to reload. I don't understand why MOTU has not dealt with this since I have already read someone posting this before.

Yeah; hit 'Cancel' but the whole audio system, VI's and all still has to reload.
That's a real funny joke, I'll say!

It would be nice for Buffer to be right there.

I accidentally solved an Automatic Delay Compensation problem yesterday when I switched my buffer from 256 to 128, then back to 256. I didn't realize this would give the ADC a kickstart. I was able to continue my Parallel Compression experiments with far less hassle.

Now I want the Buffer indicator visible at all times.

I can't resist - this feature is more hidden in Logic than DP     and everything still has to load in L as well. So there 8) .

+1.

I will add that I am finding 256 is actually useable for perfomance in DP6.02, and my Quad G5 handles pretty big projects at that buffer size, so this isn't quite the issue it used to be. Still, why not give us a little window MOTU? Pretty Please? :D

When I track VI's I know that I'm @ 256...
I only switch it when I go to mix so I know what it is already.
Why you'd need to go back and forth is the issue... I guess I'm just set in my ways of habit.
Track @ low settings... mix @ high. Unless your going back and retracking I can't see changing them more than once per session but thats me.
