Airport not working suddenly

Post by Dan Walsh »

Woke up this morning, turned the Mac on, and my Aiport wireless is not working. I have tried to turn it on and when I click the tab nothing happens and the Airport icon remains blank. I've also tried the same within Systems prefs and no dice.

I'm currently connected to the internet via my ethernet cable, and I have connected my wireless keyboard and all is workin' fine. Si it seems this is specific to airport.

It was working fine last night when I shut everything down.

I'm doing some searching on the Apple site for any known issues, but I'm comin' up short. I installed Snow leopard 2 weeks ago and everything has been workin' fine.

Any idea's as to what I can try?
Thanx in advance

Thanx man. I did read that post along with others. The weird thing is, Airport is workin' again. I gave up on this yesterday morn, and stuck with using an ethernet cable. I went back online yesterday aft (after using the MacBook in the studio) and ironically, as I was perusing more posts on the Apple forums about this issue, the computer totally shut down. I mean-it just shut off and everything went to black. Immediately. I wasn't doin' anything but reading the posts. When I booted the mac back up--magically Airport was workin'. It was the oddest thing ever. And it has been workin' fine ever since.

[Insert Twilight Zone theme here]

I had to replace my Airport Extreme unit a couple of months ago. For about a week before it finally died it was randomly in and out. Just something to keep an eye on. :? I hope this is not the case with yours. They ain't cheap!

I actually don't have an Airport Extreme unit. Just the airport that is installed in the MacB Pro. I use a Bell 2Wire modem for high speed as I live on Lake Erie and only have a phone line available. Which really makes it weird that the Airport card would just disappear for a few hours. All is still workin' fine today.
