Am very much looking forward to that, and reading your take on these plugs (especially the newer ones) once you're done with your demoing, so I can have the benefit of your wisdom and insights before the sale offer expires tomorrow.
thanks again!
LOL!! I can take a hint!!
Embarrassingly, I've run into a little snag with my computer which I'm trying desperately to sort out. I know-- the clock is ticking....
The one thing I have left to do is to compare a guitar track using the Nomad Brit stuff with the UAD Neve stuff....
Money? Who needs money when there are always credit cards?

Fortunately Debtors Prison is a thing of the past.

I'm "this" close to getting the Nomad stuff for reasons I'll explain later....
Well $1800 buys a lot of pancakes so I won't be gettin' the Lex series. But I will vow this: If you (Frodo) buy the Nomads, I'll buy the pancakes. LOL! Just name the [middle of the] night. Hee hee! Can't wait!!
ps- LOVED the Lipatti version. All the flash I think the piece needs. Ruby was nice but a bit too 'sentimental' by comparison. Not that there's anything wrong with that!

I had to pay GST (i.e. Canadian tax) because it turns out Don't Crack is based in Canada. No tax for anyone else outside of Canada. I think internet software purchases should be tax free no matter where in the world you are purchasing from. At least I can get this money back, but I shouldn't have to jump through the hoops.
Do you US folks have to pay tax when you purchase downloadable software from US companies?
With regards to whether or not to buy into this deal... I didn't check everything thoroughly. I knew from just hearing a few of the plugins doing some nice sounding things that I would be really kicking myself if I didn't buy in. Less than 24 hours to go for all of you fence sitters.
And BTW, keep in mind that Nomad Factory made this a free upgrade for its existing Producer Pack customers. That is *GREAT* customer service, and makes me feel very good about supporting these guys.

Sometimes, if the company is in-state tax is automatically charged. If the company is out-of-state, then *it is expected* that online purchases will be reported on one's annual income tax statement and that any tax not paid at the time of purchase will be reported and paid post facto. (The upside to that is that working musicians can deduct software (or some portion of any expense) which can be directly associated with their livelihoods if they are certified as "self-employed".
I bought it and am very happy.
I didn't have any NF plugs, so this was an eye opener for me.
I still have to sort through the "booty", but there is lots of gold here.
My test process was to insert each plug on a previously plugged track.
I would test the various NF plugs by replacing or augmenting plugin combos that I had previously deemed my best effort.
In almost every case, I was able to extract a better sound with the addition of the NF plugs.
This is totally anecdotal and non-scientific.
Sometimes the combination of an NF plug and a Waves plug would be amazing.
In a few cases, I was blown away.
I'm thinking this may be the key to sonic bliss for me.
Incorporating this in to my workflow and mixing will require more study and experience.
It is hard to assess value these days, but for me this purchase was a great deal.
I've been swatting at this for most of Friday and encountered a shire-like error. Long story-- but I was working in Tiger. Some other AU would suddenly send up a warning that it had expired. I used AppCleaner to uninstall everything associated with it, but I found that the darned thing kept regenerating itself IN FULL!! Grrrrrr.
So I start from scratch by installing the plugins in Snow Leopard. Great. But I never got Altiverb installed in Snow Leopard to compare the Brit plugins of Nomad with the Neve plugins of UAD.
Well, well, well. Lo and behold, I never installed UAD on my Snow Leopard drive, although I "thought" I had done this a couple of weeks ago. Ugh.
In a nutshell, Friday was a total waste of time and I'm starting over at 2 AM with my tests.
