Wow, lots of golden nuggets in this thread, and all of them surprises to me and counter-intuitive based on product price points.

As for Eleven Rack, I thought those ads were just cleverly rendered. I didn't realise it was hardware vs. a plug-in! I'll follow this thread to see where it leads... especially if it supports standalone mode.

It will be here thurs.. First I will see if I like it, then I will hook it up with DP, and give it a try. If I read correctly, DP will use eleven rack as an IO, if not then I have to stick to Ultra lite. By then I will have decided if I'm going to keep it or not. Then I'll dive into the Pro tools aspect.
My problem is I've never used Pro tools so I am thinking it will be a long week end If I decide to keep it. I might switch to Pro tools if everything works out, but It reads like Pro Tools only takes 4 gig files. I might have a problem with that, most of my files are 6 to 10 gigs.
I will be sure to write about it when I have figuired it out.

Good luck with your attempts to make it work - I am hoping you can get DP & the Eleven Rack to live happily together somehow, because that is exactly what I would like to do.

If you are talking about entire sessions, ProTools definitely does much bigger sessions.
If you are talking about individual audio files, you have some pretty long audio files as 96k stereo 2hours long (single file) should fit within 4 gigs.

Might be easier to monitor with a little mixer- the PTLE or Mpowered or (Will the new PT really really lite 16 track version have the features you need with Eleven Rack?) would feed a stereo fader and the computer output from DP another mixer input- or route DP back in to the digi interface as mentioned above.
If your tempos are the same in each session you should be able to take the Eleven tracks, consolodate them from the beginning and import them into DP after they are finished, and mix in DP. As far as syncronizing, IAC? better check. Probably could lock DP to PT via SMPTE
with a MTP/AV, may be only frame accurate, not sample accurate- OK for monitoring or material without common phase information. Or easier- do a stereo bounce from DP from the beginning of session, import that into PT, do overdubs with Eleven in PT with the stereo file to monitor from. This could be problematic if you occassional need to make unanticipated changes to the mix, solo or mute an instrument etc., in which case you might make a few stem/submixes). At the end consolodate the Eleven Tracks and reimport into DP. Watch that file formats match during the process.

To keep your weekend short make a list of what is essential to know as to whether to keep PT and do the list items before getting distracted by other PT features. Then if you have time try the other features (i.e. elastic audio and beat detective are pretty cool, but can take a while to understand how they are different from DP).

Thanks for the ideas, thats the spirit, all can do, lol. seriously, I have thought of a few ways to try but until it gets here, and things work (positive attitude) I just don't know what to expect.

In case anyone cares, I did not like the Eleven Rack for live purposes, so I never made it to the pro tools end of it. Probably good for me. The Eleven did sound pretty good, and might have worked live, sound wise anyway. The preset changing was to slow for me, There is no spillover for reverb and delay, and not to pick, but there was no harmony effect. I need that for about a minute doing a live show so I would have to get an additional effect pedal. So back to the G-system and my amp for live and Guitar rig or amplitude for recording guitar.
Updating to Komplete 6 as I write. I guess I'll never know if Pro tools and DP would work together.

With the MBox 2 series, the driver is multi-client, so it works as you've said above.

Wow, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I've only used the 002/003s w/ LE, and had assumed it all functioned the same.

I really will never understand the way Digi chooses to approach things...
