Ultralite MKIII drivers issue(s)

Post by shefu »

First of all Hello Everyone!

I am Gabi, and I am using UltraLite MKIII and Ableton Live 7.03. A few days ago I had an issue on my PC and had to reformat. Prior to this everything worked fine, I had 0 issues with the Unit (I was using the driver 3.6.8.1410 at the time). Having reinstalled Live and all I went ahead and checked online to see if there was an updated driver and downloaded 3.6.8.1414. Now for some stupid reason I didn't save the one I had before (and I can't find it anywhere online). Here is my issue:

When I am in Live I am getting terrible lag now. First of all I can't even use the ASIO selection because I won't be able to hear anything in my speakers even though I can see the levels moving in Live (I had this issue before as well). So I have to choose MME/DirectX and from my understanding everyone is having this issue. In the MOTU Panel I have it set on Analog 1-2 (If I select the Main Out, all hell breaks loose, and on A1-2 is how it worked before) and I have the buffer set on 64. When I am in Live if I pick anything lower than 700 in the In/Out Buffers I start getting pops etc, but with the buffers at 700+ I have a noticeable delay.

I must mention that I am getting this lag while trying to play a live instrument through Live using Amplitube 2.0 I've used all of this prior to reformatting and I never really had an issue. Although I must admit that I don't really remember all of the settings. But still, I don't really see why I should be having all of these issues. And MOTU's tech support is a joke, really is like they have no shame at all.

As you can tell I am very frustrated and I just want to get this to work just like it used to. If you guys need any additional information on my system or setup, or anything at all that could help you guide me, just let me know.

Thank you in advance.

edit: I wanted to provide some additional information on this issue. i have already uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers (delete folders, and motu keys in the registry) followed every step accordingly. and another thing that i am getting, is audio drop outs every now and then (it doesn't matter what i'm doing on the computer at the time) that are followed by a high pitched noise (which is not loud)....it's very annoying.

I would appreciate it if anyone that still has the previous drivers, the .1410's if they could upload them, as I can't find them anywhere online :(

Yes, the problem with proper channel labels persists in this driver too, I have read. Since I have earlier hardware there is no reason for me to upgrade. You should be able to hunt and peck for the 'right' channels.

>So I have to choose MME/DirectX

at a great impact on performance, as you have found. This is normal for MME mode.

I'm pretty sure I have the drivers you want somewhere. Do you have an FTP to upload them to?

I'm using the .1414 for Vista 64 and they are working great here.

It takes these drivers a long time to complete installing. Are you sure you let them complete the install process? I didn't at 1st and had problems, so I had to reinstall them. I mean keep an eye on your disk activity led and don't restart until it shows no more disk activity. It took like inbetween 5 and 10 minutes for the installation to complete for me (and that means it was still installing after I closed the install wizard for the driver).

Another thing to check is to make sure you have the same sample rate set for the windows default playback and record device.

As I said, I'm on Vista 64 and I see you're on Vista 32bit. I only downloaded the 64bit versions of drivers. If you need the 64bit version of the.1410, you can download it from here: http://cid-4b7db487273f54de.skydrive.li ... =203887373

I chose every possible channel listed in Live with the ASIO setting and I could get no sounds still :( I really don't know what to do anymore.
You could use www.mediafire.com to upload the .1410 driver, I would appreciate it very much

HotShot

The 2nd time I installed them over it did take about 10 minutes for them to install but it still had the same issues :( Also, why is it so damn hard for them to make decent drivers? It's not really rocket science...
Thanks for the upload i'll get those just in case i change my system or something.

Sorry, I looked and the latest I could find was the .1360 version. If that one would work I'll upload it to mediafire

Thanks anyways, i finally got them from a diff thread on this forum. After new installs, no change....this product simply doesn't want to work on my system anymore, and honestly I'd rather go buy something else than freaking reinstall and install MOTU drivers ever again, I've had it with this terrible company that can't make software for their own damn products.

If i would have to rate my MOTU experience from 1 to 10, I would give it a 0.5 and a /spit
