Hello.
It's been a while since I've posted here. It's my first time doing anything with MIDI, so I could be stuck in a silly spot and may need just a simple answer.
Here's the issue.
I'm plugging my Axiom 25 keyboard directly into my Mac via USB (No MIDI cables) and I'm running DP5 through my Traveler.
When I access the Audio MIDI setup on the mac, it recognizes both the Axiom and the Traveler, but it won´t let me connect them in any way.
When I launch DP I don´t see the Axiom in the MIDI Output. But I see Apple Software Synth, DP Output and IAC Driver.
Selecting Apple Synth, gives me their synth pads, but they playback on my laptop speakers (not on my headphones or through the Traveler).
Selecting DP Output lets me record MIDI and see signal on the fader, but I can´t play anything back.
Selecting IAC Driver does not allow to record (it should be expected).
Can anybody tell me what I am missing?
I also tried adding a new device (Fake Axiom) in the Audio MIDI setup with the same parameters as the Real Axiom, and this one does connect to the Traveler in the Audio MIDI setup.
However, when I test it there, it only shows the Real Axiom being triggered. And when I go into DP with this setting I see my fake axiom in the output, but again I see signal, but can´t hear anything back.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: MIDI Newbie question
Do the yellow MIDI In and Out lights on the Traveler flash at the appropriate times? Try doing an autoconfigure for devices. (DP Setup menu.) I'm not sure, but I think DP and the Traveler drivers are going to want to see MIDI going through the Traveler first. Try turning off the Traveler and MAS and see if the DP autoconfigure recognizes the Axiom.

Re: MIDI Newbie question
Why would you need to connect the Axiom and the Traveler in any way, anyway? I don't understand. You will route the Axiom MIDI thru DP to either external devices plugged into the Traveler MIDI ports or to internal soft synths. No connection is necessary in AMS.

Re: MIDI Newbie question
i am also a bit confused
first, in your OSX audio/MIDI setup, in the audio section, check and make sure your laptop is configured to use the traveler as its output, not your internal speakers
second, if you have the axiom usb'd straight into the laptop, there's no MIDI involved, yes?
therefore there is no need ot try and connect them in your OSX audio/MIDI
so if your axiom is being recognized, it should show up as a routing option thru DP or in the audio/MIDI setup(s) of any VI in standalone
however, you won't see the axiom as a MIDI output per se in DP
instead, just create an instrument channel, insert the desired VI (we'll use Apple Synth for an example), create a MIDI channel for it, route that to its corresponding output (in this example, Apple Synth1-1, meaning first instance of the plug, MIDI channel 1), record or playback enable, play the axiom and viola - you should hear something...

Re: MIDI Newbie question
Sourgrapes, you've done it. Thanks a lot man.
That was the issue, I was not loading up any virtual instruments and having routed them to the MIDI output; which as you said, since the axiom is USB'd DP won't detect it.
DP's Virtual Instruments don't sound that bad. I'm gonna go play with this a little bit.
Cheers.
