could be bad RAM or bad practices
This one friend of mine recently got a new Macbook and he is very upset at it. He had problems running Reason 3 and it kept crashing on him. I told him time after time to update it and the update was free. After losing hours of work he did. I tell him he needs to do a few things to maintain his machine and he feels he should not have to do any thing to it. I keep telling him to save ever chance he can but he never does.
Now he had a complete crash of the system where it told him to restart his computer. The Macbook crashed after he put iWork in it and was using it. As I said he never does any thing like “repair permissions”.
I told him just take it in an have the thing looked at and he may even have some bad RAM.
I do feel it is a hell of a lot easier to keep a Mac running than a PC; I have both.
So what do you think?

Me thinks he protests too much. It's the same attitude as someone saying: I shouldn't have to change the oil in my car; or, I paid $300 for this air cleaner, I'm not paying another $80 for a new filter after just a year of running it continuously!twistedtom wrote: I tell him he needs to do a few things to maintain his machine and he feels he should not have to do any thing to it. It's called LAZY - or maybe, JUST DON'T CARE. But whatever you call it, it is HIS problem, not yours. He can plot thru life ignoring the fact that not everything is going to get handed to him, or he can repair his F$^king permission when he changes the oil in his car and air filter on his air cleaner.
Clearly, I have zero tolerance for sloth. It is, after all, one of the Seven Deadly Sins!

His friend is in denial of some sort - or just was a spoiled brat as a kid. Whatever. He needs to get off his ass and find his way to reality. Not a big enough "ouch" IMO.kassonica wrote:

Would this happen to be the pirated version of iWork with the Trojan in it?twistedtom wrote: The Macbook crashed after he put iWork in it and was using it.
