UltraLite mk3 POP when turning volume control knob...

Hello all...

I just got an UltraLite mk3 and I have a problem: When I turn the volume control of either one of the preamps up or down (whether it's the physical volume controls on the unit itself or the preamp volume controls on CueMix) I hear a pop sound like what you hear when you tap a microphone with your finger. As I turn the volume controls, I hear pop, pop, pop - one pop for every dB increment/decrement in the detented volume control knobs. Neither Sonar (the sequencer I use) nor CuMix has to be open for this to happen. Right now, I have the unit on but both Sonar and CueMix are closed, yet turning he volume control of both preams produces the same pops.

It doesn't make a difference which mix bus I use (1, 2, 3, etc) and it doesn't matter which outputs I use either (main, 1-2, 3-4, etc) - I get the same problem regardless.

I went into CueMix and disabled/turned off everything but Mix 1. The preamps are on, but the effects (reverb, eq, etc) are all off.

Has anyone else had this problem? I mean, it doesn't really affect the outcome, but those pops are annoying as hell, and I just paid $549 for the unit, so I expect it to be free of defects. I already returned an UltraLite that had a bad preamp and I would hate to return this one too. Is this a bad unit or can I do something to get it fixed without having to send it back?

return seems to be reasonable..

Unfortunately I will have to return this unit as well. I called MOTU directly and they determined the unit is defective.

did you finally get this issue solved? I´m having this same popping with my mk3. Got a replacement unit from local distributor, but it´s popping too...
