I've just bought one of these old boys and it's on it's way, but I can't seem to find out what I'm going to need to get it to work...or even if I'm going to be able to get it to work with my current set up. I'm running OSX 10.5.4 Intel Mac at the moment and I'm not sure whether it's going to be compatible with my computer.. am I going to have to dig up an old mac?
I read something about possibly having to get a new PCIe card or something.
Does anyone know if it will work? If so what drivers/software am I going to need as I can't seem to find them anywhere on the Motu website and I've heard their known for the lack of support to second hand buyers...
Any help would be hugely appreciated, Please! I need this for a replacement to the home studio badly!
Thankyou very much in advance..
Ryan

Re: motu 2408 Mark 2 soundcard PCI with firwire Mac OSX?
The 2408mk2 can be connected to a PCI-324 card or a PCI-424 card. If you have a Mac Pro, you'll need the PCIe-424 card. Refer to these tech notes for more info:
PCI-424 Compatibility
PCIe-424 Compatibility
Also, although the 2408mk2 uses a standard 6-pin FireWire cable to connect to the PCI card, it does *not* use FireWire to communicate with the computer; rather, it uses a proprietary protocol called AudioWire. The 2408mk2 does *not* work when connected to a FireWire port.

"I don't see any method at all, sir."

Cheers for that, that mix up with the firewire usage was a bit embaressing, but I am learning slowly about this system...but the problems seem to be getting bigger..
I decided to dig out the OLD PC instead and give that a go, but that has only got me half way into getting the thing to work..
I've got the 324 working but my computer doesn't seem to be finding the 2408
if anyone thinks they might be able to help I've posted a slightly more detailed overview of this new problem here
