how to bring down a track that is too hot?

Post by joefix413 »

I recorded my friends band, direct out of the console into my 2 896's and the vox trac is way to hot, how to eq and or compress to make it sound reasonable?
There is TRUTH in Exile. Tascam DM-24 and an Allen & Heath Mixwizard 16:3 and several tube Preamps into a 2408 mk3, Custom PC: P-4HT @ 2.6G, 40G sys drive, 120G storage + 250G(external) storage drive, Radeon 9600, 1 37"1080p video monitor, Yamaha HS-80 studio monitors with the HS-10 to fill the bottom. In a kickin room that was a joy to build.

If it's just high level, just insert a trim plug, of course. But I guess that's not what you're after.
If it's some sort of overdriven, or distorted, track instead, then Ozone RX has a stunning powerful tool to work it out.
