CueMix FX and Ultralite
I am simply trying to control the master volume on the Ultralite with respect to the MacBook sound output, outside of Digital Performer. In other words, when running iTunes, I'd like to be able to lower the main output of the Ultralite using CueMix rather than the main output knob on the Ultralite. The meter in CueMix reflects the iTunes audio, but changing the master slider in CueMix has no effect on the volume. Any ideas?

If I'm reading your questions correctly, it sounds like you have to reset your audio output in the system preferences on the MB. I have a MBP and occasionally, I have to similar issues when I'm switching apps like DP to iTunes or QuickTime.

Re: CueMix FX and Ultralite
Well, the audio runs through the Ultralite as set in system preferences, but CueMix will not control the output level of the Ultralite. And maybe it's not supposed to function that way, but it'd be nice if I didn't have to adjust the Ultralite volume with the tiny rotary knob on the Ultralite.
Re: CueMix FX and Ultralite
This probably doesn't help but I have the same issue with the Ultralite and CueMix FX.
I spent a lot of time working on it and it just does not seem to work.

Yeah, I'm pretty much coming to the conclusion that it's not supposed to function that way, although I wouldn't know why not.
Re: CueMix FX and Ultralite
I have the exact same problem.
I'm going crazy though 'cause a lot of things have gone wrong with my ultralite lately .
It's good to know more people have the same problem,I'm starting to think this is how it's meant to run as well.
Whoever knows if it's supposed to be like this or not please reply.
thnx

Re: CueMix FX and Ultralite
I don't think that is a fault, it is just the way CueMix works. I am using a Traveler and it is the same.
CueMix is there for mixing the inputs of the audio interface by feeding them to the outputs along with audio coming from other sources (DP, iTunes etc) The meters show the audio from, for instance, iTunes, but the Buss fader only controls signals that are being mixed from the faders in CueMix. The meters then are reflecting these combined signals.
I personally think it would be a minefield if fader levels from other sources were capable of being left set in CueMix.... I don't always open it, and if I were to open iTunes or DP I might wonder why my level isn't right.
So I think it is fair to think that CueMix is there to mix the live inputs of your audio interface against the existing levels of other applications.
Probably not explained very clearly, but I did my best
Kind regards
Stephen

Re: CueMix FX and Ultralite
I route the Mac output physically back to the input, then use an 'LinIn'
http://rogueamoeba.com/freebies/
Then route the *input* to the interface.
Mac volume controls now iTunes etc.
Not the best quality but works
Take care

Re: CueMix FX and Ultralite
I have been very happy using a passive volume controller (SM Pro Audio M-Patch Two) ... This helps to get around this issue in CueMix, for me.
