Virus TI crashes DP MOTU Audio system
Every time I try to launch the VIRUS TI as a AU plugin in DP, I get this error message: "MOTU Audio System has been turned off. You may be able to turn it back on with the Audio Systems menu, but consider saving your file first." I get this message in DP 5 and 6. However, I do NOT get this message in Logic, where the Virus TI AU runs fine. Any thoughts....?

i reverted to version 2.7 of the virus software and it will load but the MIDI timings are way off and i cant use it. so much for total integration.

Re: Virus TI crashes DP MOTU Audio system
I use a TI Polar and it has had the exact same latency issue since day one - rendering it useless in "TI" mode in DP...I'm using good old MIDI cables and the analog outs. Maybe someday?

Same problem here, it shits me!! I guess its an Access problem, who knows if they will ever really list it as compatible. Anyone know how the PT8 and Virus TI got together?

Re: Virus TI crashes DP MOTU Audio system
I was running DP6.02 and the Virus TI Polar with 3.0.1.09 when it wasnt working. Just a few days ago i noticed Access released version 3.0.1.12 with log notes mentioning they fixed VC (Virus control) in DP6.02. Done it last night and works noice!!!
So for anyone who has the current problem, update and will stop those headaches.
Peace,
MB

Re: Virus TI crashes DP MOTU Audio system
I can confirm the latest access ti download fixes the problem.
I also think the performance is somewhat better over USB, with far less latency. The one nice thing - TI warned me about using a shared port hub for the USB connection....apparently the USB ports on the back of a G5 tower are on an internal hub - so I switched to the front USB port and I'm finding far better performance, much less MIDI latency than last time I used the virus on a project.
It's also good to see they were willing to. however grudgingly, un-break their plugin for DP users. They still annoyingly make a point of NOT supporting DP when you install it - but it's working and I'm using it on a project.

Re: Virus TI crashes DP MOTU Audio system
Dp 6.02 running Virus OS latest as of 7/17/09 crashes DP EVERY time I try to automate soft knob moves. This is a terrible kick in the teeth as Virus is clearly the best synth aroundfor electronica and the TI business WOULD BE awesome.

Re: Virus TI crashes DP MOTU Audio system
I got this from Access:
Thank you for your email. I'm sorry to say but I indeed can't help with Digital Performer. DP is not supported for the Total Integration of the TI, so it won't work with this music program.
You still have the option to use the TI as a regular hardware synth to enjoy its sound engine.
Best wishes,
Joerg Huettner
So don't let anyone tell you DP works with Access Virus. i would say from this unhelpful letter, they have no intention of working through this with MOTU. Very negative outcome indeed!

Re: Virus TI crashes DP MOTU Audio system
Actually I use the TI interface in DP, the only trick is to send the audio out the audio outputs instead of USB. Control MIDI works over USB, but make sure you plug the USB cable from the TI directly into the Mac (I don't use my Gigaware external USB bus, that seems not to work). TI control works.
I've done this in DP 5.13, 6.02, and 7.01 successfully using a Mac G5 dual and a Traveler.
Having said that - for those who are still thinking about buying from Access, I do regret spending $2000 with them 3 years ago.
First of all, they promised DP integration, there was even mention of this in press releases, and then they never followed through, and always point the finger at MOTU.
Second, if you read their user forums, the TI integration is unreliable, even in Cubase and Logic. I've been on there and lots of users struggle through it.
Then the unit I bought was DOA. Got it home, and there were all kinds of glitches and buzzes and dropouts and static. Didn't matter if I went over MIDI; didn't matter if I used DP or Ableton. It took a 36-message-long Gmail thread to get the thing fixed.
Then, the repair process took a month because Access gave me a voucher to send it to the LA shop, then never followed up with them. The thing sat for 2 weeks until I called to follow up. Then the shop told me they never got my unit. I said "UPS says otherwise", and miraculously, it reappeared in their workshop.
Sure, the synth sounds great. But they don't do what they promise, and for the money, I'd rather invest in a rack of Muse Receptors.
