The new configuration of this website gets your last visit info from the cookie in your browser...correct?
I've been visiting with different browsers/computers and my last visit date seems to depend on which browser I'm in and subsequently when I click on "View New Posts" I'm getting a rerun of what I've already seen.
Seems like the old site kept this information at the site itself.

Re: Viewing New Posts search
I think your best bet is to "Mark forums read" on the index page before logging out. Works for me.

Re: Viewing New Posts search
I log in from different computers and the forum always seems to show me the right posts. I've even tested it a couple of times and it seems to know which posts I've seen based on my login.

*EDITED*
I had this bug the week before.
I just toasted my Motunation cookies. Here's how :
Click *User control pannel*
Then *Delete all board cookies* (bottom)
All is NOT fine again now. It just sets a new starting point to the endless list which is still growing !!!

Sorry I spoke way too soon.
All is NOT fine again now.
Tossing cookies just sets a new starting point to the (endless !) list which is now growing again !!!

A little investigation :
User Control Pannel / Front Page / *Last Visited*
date and time do NOT update after each visit !

Re: Viewing New Posts search
For the past week I've been having this same problem. The board is not behaving the way it used to, and the list of posts since last visit keeps growing unless I clear the cookies and log back in. Even if I go to the board index and clear all forums, the posts that are marked as read will be included in the list of new posts until the cookies are cleared and I start over. It might be a problem at the host, and not something that James can fix.

I did the delete cookies thing (ironically, whilst eating some real cookies!), but the same thing seems to be happening again.
Cheers,
BK
…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

Re: Viewing New Posts search
BTW, when I logged on this morning it said in the upper right on the main index page that my last visit was March 12. Something is up and I'll see if I can find out what it is.

Thanks James. I wish I could help.
Once again : humanly and musically speaking, I think this board is a great place to be.
