MOTU 828 MKI & Cubase SL3

Post by tomb65 »

Hi All,
I seem to have a problem with my Motu 828 mkI firewire and my laptop, my laptop should be powerful enough(see specs below) but I get a lot of audio skipping when playing back, I have tried everything reinstalling rebooting etc but can't get it to run smoothly. I have the latest driver from the Motu site and was wondering if it was driver related. One other thing the clock on the front panel keeps changing from 44.1 to 48 but not sure if thats the issue but it seems to be a sign that it's about to stop working.
Sometimes though the Motu would stop being recognised. I have to switch off the device for approx 30mns and then back on and would work, however the skipping would still be there.
I am relying on this guys as I use drum machines(separate tracks for each drum) and synths (exported as audio files from Reason) and all linked up to my Behringer mixer. All tracks are audio files don't use MIDI in Cubase.
Any ideas, if you need any more info please ask
Tom

Have changed the buffer size from 512 to 256, no change, upped them to 768 1024 etc no change, unticked "release ASIO fromBackground" My Laptop has been tweaked so to be only used for Music

Update: Have found an older driver and seems to work a bit better, what I did notice is that I seem to get a spike on the input (can see it on the Cubase transport bar), however I'm not using the inputs as I only want to control the outputs, I think this is causing the skipping, cut outs etc. Any ideas

Hey man. I am having the exact same problem with a similar laptop setup. How did you get it to work? Thanks.
