Hire Tech 2 set up DP working for stroke survivor in DFW

Hi!
I'm new to MAC & DP and also a senior citizen who survived a major stroke. I'm a retired musician and very adept at composing from score and playing violin etc. but I am an idiot savant (I guess) lacking a flowchart mind!
I can't even get set up for audio and recording--never mind you guys/gals running rings around me. I am particulary determined to produce MIDI scores for a contemporary drama company which asked me to produce scores for them and really need to start working again!
BUT:
I just found out that an alogorythm is NOT Al Gore playing the drums. I've pulled out all my hair,and have none left and am literally part brain dead from the stroke.
I'm a retired pro musician and part-time writer living in the DFW area and would like to hire a DP savvy tech for a ONE-TIME set-up 4 Me. I am disabled but willing but willing to bite the bullet$$$$ to make the sacrifice to have someone come to my apartment to help me!

I would suggest right from the start to buy a tutorial DVD. Perhaps the one Motu.com is selling. This will give you way more beginners insight than an afternoon with one of the DPers. I think we assume people "just know" stuff and that sometimes leaves others in the dust.

DP Tutorials - online or in DVD form. That's how I would begin. The manual is good if you're the one who wrote it. Otherwise it can be a bit disorienting.

Post some details about your setup.
Mac? audio interface? and stuff.
Some one might be able to put together a template for you and send it via Email.

I have a annoyingly poor memory as to what I did last time that made things work. I burned my first CD of an original 'classical' work last Saturday now can't remember how I made it work! I think I need a check list.
I'll look into the DVD. I bought the DP Newhouse book/CD from Berklee Jazz College (where I studied a bit) but I need something more elementary, Dr. Watson. I'll check my computer every fifteen minutes to comply with suggestions. I'll recheck my connections while I wait for your response.

If you look in the quick-start manual that came with Dp there is really good,simple tutorials.

I'm heading out the door at the moment,but would like to help you as much as I can.I live in Victoria,BC Canada,so dropping by to set it up isn't really easy.If you would like to send me an email,or a post here describing what it is you need to do with Dp,how many tracks,any external gear and whether you are using a 1 or multiple controller setup I could help you to set up a template or multiple templates so Dp is pre-configured when you open it.It might take a couple tries and some trouble-shooting but its definately do-able. I live and have my studio north of Dallas, near Allen. I've been using DP since around 1990. I noticed you have a K2000 in your setup, and I was curious how you're using it- is it the main MIDI sound source for your composing/recordings?

The reason I ask is, my partner and I have literally dozens of hardware synths (although most have been replaced by software nowadays).. We have a K2000 also, since they were new. Now, that thing is truly rocket science, IMO. I never could get even my formidable brain around it. It's so complicated, just creating a simple multi with samples, etc. was like pulling my hair out. I gave up on it as a synth and ended up just using it as a 128 MB sampler for a while, with off-the-shelf libraries. So, DP I know- but anything having to do with the K2000 is quite frankly beyond my abilities.
