Micro Xpress Parellel works; USB does not

Greets.

I have a Micro Express parallel that I have been using with XP for a number of years. I am upgrading to Vista, which has no parellel port, so bought the ME USB version. I can not get the ME USB to work properly with Cubase 4.5.2 in Vista - so I tried it in the XP machine - doesn't work there either. I have the 32Midi drivers for XP, and the MOTU_64midi drivers for Vista. Let's forget about Vista for a moment.

Basically, if I boot the XP computer with both ME units turned on, launch Cubase, plug my external MIDI kbd into the ME Par, Cubase sees the MIDI data. If I - without changing anything in Cubase - plug my external MIDI kbd into the ME USB, I get nothing in Cubase. Both of ME units are listed in the device manager, and as I said, the USB has the latest driver. I tried a 2nd USB cable - nothing. Tried powering the ME USB holding down the panic button, that didn't help. The ME USB does see the incoming MIDI data from the kbd; it just appears to not be sending any.

I contacted MOTU tech support, and although the person I spoke with was nice and patient, could not provide me with an answer. He said he will look into this and try to get back to me, but in the meantime, does anyone have any ideas? Remember - forget about the fact that this does not wirk in Vista; right now I am just trying to get this to work in XP.

Ok, just got of the phone w/tech support again. Apparently, even tho this unit is Win/Mac compatable, the e-proms support Mac only. Go figure.

Ordered new e-proms; here's hoping that will work.
