DP4 & Guitar Rig
I am new to this, so I apologize in advance if this has been asked already. But, I am having problems getting DP4 and Guitar Rig 1.0 working together. I have Audio Ease VST Wrapper 4.04, also. I can see Guitar Rig in the Insert Menu under the VST Wrapper. But, when I insert GR, no sound comes out. When GR is bypassed, I can hear the guitar track. Am I doing something wrong or won't these 2 things work together??
Re: DP4 & Guitar Rig
Doesn't Guitar Rig provide an AU version ?
I'm pretty sure it does and would probably be better than wrapping it.

Re: DP4 & Guitar Rig
Thanks for the info. I am still confused. I am not quite sure what an AU is and how I can implement it. I can use GR as a stand alone unit. When I start DP4, however, GR gets loaded with the VST wrapper. Did I do something wrong? What can I do to fix this??
Thanks,
JIM

Re: DP4 & Guitar Rig
AU stands for Audio Unit. It is Apple's plugin format.
DP 4 is compatible with MAS and AU plugins when running on it's own.
VST plugins are not usable by DP unless you "wrap" them inside another program (the wrapper).
It seems to me that it would be simpler to use the AU version if you have it. One less thing to cause a problem.
I'm pretty sure that Guitar Rig is a newer program and if you bought it recently and didn't get an AU version they should provide you with an update.

Re: DP4 & Guitar Rig
Hey there... I'm running GTR RIG as an AU plug-in in DP4.52 and all is working perfectly. I am even using the effects as regular plugs for soft synths and they sound pretty good.

Re: DP4 & Guitar Rig
I guess my problem is that I am not finding where the AU plug in is or where I can find it. I am new to MAC and I am not sure if I installed something wrong. Should this be coming up in the DP4's plug in list, because it isn't? Will I have to reinstall GR or am I just not finding it??
Thanks for all your help.

Re: DP4 & Guitar Rig
I'm having the same problem getting GTR RIG to work in 4.5, Its installed as an AU, the interface opens correctly when adding an instrument track but no sound comes out, I'm using 10.3.7 DP 4.5/MIDI Express XT/2408/G5 1.8 DP / 1.25 G RAM
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: DP4 & Guitar Rig
I made this mistake at first, too. Do not create an instrument track. Simply create a stereo audio track (L for signal, R for Foot Pedal). Then simply add it as an effect on that audio track, as you would with a reverb, etc. GR should show up on the list of plug-ins.

Re: DP4 & Guitar Rig
Pardon my intruding into the thread, but I think my post is appropriate to the topic:
I can get GR to function by inserting it as an effect in an audio track; the left as audio and the right as Kontrol. Every thing is fine while playing thru, the audio feeds thru both channels, but when I record the track, only the left records audio and the right just records the hum of the Kontrol signal. When I play the track back, I get awful distortion. Also, I can't byass the GR plugin by clicking the Bypass button in the upper right corner of the plug window; the plugin remains active in the signal path regardless of the bypass switch. I've never seen a plugin exhibit this behavior before. Is it just me or has anyone else seen this?

My problem with guitar rig is when I record with the plug in, I cant monitor G-rig with effects. It's just the clean signal. After im done recording it plays with the effects. I want to play with the effects on, so I can get the G-rig vibe. I could do this with Protools le.

I can't get it to bypass either. I usually go into Guitar Rig and turn off the individual modules to get it done.johnschur wrote:I can't byass the GR plugin by clicking the Bypass button in the upper right corner of the plug window; the plugin remains active in the signal path regardless of the bypass switch. BTW: NI Guitar Rig 2 is available this Monday. Offers new effects, new amps (including some bass amps) and a few more goodies. All the chicks will dig you then, America, I promise.

i can just never get it to work without the pedalboard. it sucks having lug that with me all the time as some sort of dongle... when i plug my guit into the 828mk2, all i get is the straight signal until AFTER i record.
