Splitting Stereo Input?

Post by Kris »

Is there a way for DP to see the stereo input on my PB G4 as two seperate inputs? One instrument I play is a Chapman Stick, and the stereo output of the instrument has the bass strings pickup on tip and melody strings pickup on ring. Sometimes I want to lay down quick guide tracks at work or on the road, and would like to record the two tracks seperately. Other than using an external FW or USB box, I didn't know if it was possible to split that stereo in into two signals. Thanks...

What if you create two mono tracks, don't you see a choice of inputs?

But will that allow tip and ring to recorded simultaneously on two seperate tracks? Wouldn't that only see each input as summed mono?

Kris what you need is a adapter cable that excepts the tip ring sleeve and breaks out to 2 mono 1/4" jacks. Plug one into, let's say input #1 and the other into input # 2. Bring up 2 mono channels in DP and set the inputs to correspond to #1 and #2 Away you go.
