yes,it has some latency, esteso wrote:I/ve been using IAC to run Kontakt or Play standalone with Logic and DP. It works, but ......... the latency makes it tough to do any precision stuff (read, percussion) I've got DP or Logic both set to 512 because of the strain of using Play on my 2x2.5 G5.
OS 10.4.9
Is anyone getting IAC to work with reasonable latency?
right now I am handling it assigning a Time Shift(which comes as a standard plug in in DP5) on the miditracks which are assigned to Logic tracks through IAC,making it somewhere about 9 ticks early.
Just go to the environment window in Logic,go to click& portswaxman wrote:Can you please outline the procedure for getting more then on channel to work in Logic at a time.
thanks
create a Channel Spliter(this is the key!),
connect input cable of the Channel Spliter to IAC bus and output cables(you can get 16 outs)
to Instruments......
Thats all!
you can get 16 Logic Instruments now.

This is only working for me to a limited extent.
Here's my setup.
On DP
Enabled IAC port (16 channels).
Created Interapplication MIDI port (entitled Logic w/16 channels)
Have 4 MIDI tracks, output Logic-1 through Logic-4 on all four respectively.
Have audio track with Soundflower Input 1-2 for input.
On Logic
Have 4 monotimbral instrument tracks, each set to one MIDI channel 1-4 respectively, Soundflower Output 1-2 for output on all tracks.
Instrument 1 has EFM1.
Instrument 2 has ES M.
Instrument 3 has ES1.
Instrument 4 has Ultrabeat
On Logic Environment
Physical Input has MIDI Express XT 1-8, Logic (from Interapplication MIDI), IAC Bus
Channel Splitter (1-16)
Sequencer Input (set to channelize)
Bypassing the keyboard and Note Input View, my cable routing is Physical Input Sum -> Channel Splitter -> Sequencer Input
When playing back DP, all 4 DP tracks trigger the same Logic instrument and only when that instrument is selected. If no instrument is selected, instruments don't sound.
Where I got stuff working multitimbrally is when I added a fifth instrument and put on it VSamp (on which I called up a 16-channel bank). Here, the DP tracks triggerred VSamp only for its corresponding channel, but VSamp would only sound if I selected that instrument.
Any suggestions?
Edit:
Oh shoot. I didn't read that last post. I'll try connecting the channel splitter to the IAC bus and then the IAC bus to the instruments instead.

Alright. I did it!
Managed to slave Logic to DP. DP has Transmit Sync set to Transmit MTC to IAC Bus, and Logic's Settings/Synchronization/General setting set to 1) Sync Mode Internal, 2) Auto enable external sync, 3) Auto detect format of MTC, and 4) SMPTE offset at 00:00:00:00.00. The crucial element missing was the Sync button on the transport bar, which I didn't enable. Duh!
Also figured out why the Logic VIs were only playing when the instrument track was selected. I just needed to record-enable each of the instrument tracks and viola. Each of the DP MIDI tracks triggered their corresponding Logic VI according to their MIDI channel assignments.
I didn't even need to patch in the channel splitter. I just have the Physical Input Sum connected to the Sequencer Input in the Environment.
Woohoo. I guess I'll never need to jump ship away from DP. I can consider Logic as a VI and plugin suite that has its own built-in sequencing and audio recording/mixing/processing facilities.

No buddy! this is not going to work, unless you use the channel splitter.
Just try your setup with some miditracks which have some datas,
you 'll come to know.It will trigger all the VIs in Logic which are
recod enabled,or no VI without record enabled.
Try my set up.It 'll run fine, you can sequece on your DP MIDI tracks
and use Logic VIs (single VI for separate MIDI tracks, just like using
V rack).
