896 hd with 8pre

looking at my option for additional channels with my 896hd.

Is it possible to hook up an 8pre and get 8 channels of 96/24 ?

The MOTU site does not specifically say that one can do this via adat but maybe with firewire?

If anyone is doing this could you explain how and how well it is working

There is only 1 ADAT In on the 896hd. So it's only 4 channels @ 96k

You might try pluggin both via FW though.

that was what I suspected. Does anyone who might have this combination know if I can accomplish this by daisy chaining the firewire ?

It works for me but you'll have to select both units in DP's HW setup. And you'll have two different cue mix windows so it's a bit harder to use cue mix.
