SCSI RAID worth it?
So I recently came into 5 SCSI drives that were part of a RAID array. Essentially, we got to clean out a space after a busines went under and whatever wasn't auctioned off we got to sort through. So now I have 5 identical 15,000 rpm Ultra 320 SCSI 18.5 GB hard drives ready to go. All they would need is the SCSI card. The down side is that the only tower I own is a G4 used mainly as a mixer/MIDI machines. Am I better off just trying to unload these babies (I would of killed for them a couple years ago) considering that SATA is so fast or is a SCSI RAID something worth building a machine around?

The original scsi drives if 15k spin are extremely fast. Not so with serial scsi. IF they are 10k spin scsi drives then there about as fast as a 10k spin serial ATA drive. The spin speeds are really the trick here. If you can't sell them just look around for an atto UL4S card for you machine... Think that's the one but check with atto. Don't but a new one as the machine isn't worth it.
You can mount it in an external housing and run two in raid o and two in non raid to get the best space and speed if you need it.

An expert convinced me I would need one in my first Mac. I did not as they had 7200 rpm drives and that is all I would have needed. The card and drve cost bucks I should have spent some place else.
