Re: OT: Powered Near-fields
I posted a while ago boasting my event 20/20v2 monitors. I have heard many monitors. At first i thought.. "the events sound pretty flat to me.... im not in love with the way they sound.. but if i can get something to sound good on them.. then hey..itll sound good most places. sort of like the ns10s. Just recently i bought the mackie hr824s. and wow. i WANT to hear music through them.. i look forward to turnin the puppies on. the specs on them are very impressive exhibiting a great flat response to verr low. i have heard bass and sounds i never heard from my events. I STILL listen throught the 20/20s. they tend to be more crisp in the high 10k range, with less bass response, but u can still hear. i would prefer to listen to my mixes, especially the low end through the mackies. so anyway they are both great monitors, with the mackies sounding better, but n the long run youll have to adapt to any pair of monitors.. hope this was helpful. o bythe way the even sp8s sound very good/loud as well, a little too flashy for me, and expensive, but certainly worth checking out.

Hey Daveoncontrols, would you mind placing some spaces in your sig so that threads that you post in will wrap correctly? Currently your sig is forcing others to have to do a lot of horizontal scrolling.
Thanks!
I agree with you and others about the Mackie 824's. Nice monitors. I'm looking into a pair of Magnapans to use as mid-fields, but I've been using the Mackies for 8 years and have no complaints.

The new SLS PS8R is mindblowingly good. It's a new powered version of their S8R (http://www.slsloudspeakers.com/proaudio/s8r.html).
The only issue would be that due to the peculiarities of the ribbon tweeter, you need to have these speakers at least 6 feet away from you. They don't work on the meter bridge.
Also, they cost around $3000 a pair. Worth every penny, though.
Best speaker ever.
