loop recording multiple takes in DP

Post by Xzault »

so I was just in the studio with new edition and new kids on the block for a new song for the new kids new record and red one the producer was using logic studio pro and he would loop a section of the song let's say the hook and everytime it looped the section logic would automagiclly create a new take and when he was done he would comp all the takes in to one new comp.can we do this in dp loop a section of a sequence and everytime the loop comes around it creates a new take so we can comp all the takes in dp's new comping tool? If so give me details :) I have always done this manually so if I can automate the process that would be dope:)

DP will do it automatically if you have memory cycle turned on (button on the transport control panel that looks like a loop with an 'M' above and to the left). Set the start and end markers for memory cycle, hit record, and DP will automatically create a new take each time it cycles around.

I think that's all that's necessary... don't have the documents at hand.

Comping the takes is more work... unless you've got DP6 already, of course. :)

Its one of the best functions - for me it makes Polar redundant - I don't find comping too bad but you have to duplicate the original track and have one take each per new track to do what it seems like DP6 will do automatically. But this function is awesome for trying to nail that solo etc and will work whatever the loop length so you can do lots of takes for a small section - which is great.
