2408 Mk3 w/Alesis HD24

I am considering replacing my old MOTU 24i & 324 card with a 2408 Mk3 w/424 card along with an Alesis HD24. My main question is, can I use the HD24 (connected to the 2408 Mk3) as a 24 channel analog i/o device along with the 2408's 8 analog inputs to record directly to my Cubase SX with a total of 32 tracks passing through the 2408 to my DAW? The second "related" question is, does the HD24 have the same interface as the Alesis ADAT technology, therefore interfacing and passing-through to the 2408 Mk3?
