The MixPressor 2 is mighty tasty.

Looks like a nice little collection. But I wonder if these plug-ins have any latency issues? Despite my liking for Vintage Warmer, I can't use it (expect for applying final touches before bouncing tracks) because it messes with my projects, introducing latency issues and actually interfering with the MIDI.

Anyone have problems getting them past the AU authorization? It won't on my system, Power PC 2gig dual, no idea why, never had a problem with anything from PSP.

hello zed

Sorry to go OT, but since I am just switching form Logic to DP I••™d like to ask:

Does this mean that Plug-in compensation doesn••™t work in DP correctly? Because, as I understand it, if plug-ins are delay compensated correctly then there should be no effect on other tracks, even by a latency inducing plug-in.

Thanks

Hi Tyrone. Welcome.

There are generally no compensation problems with most plug-ins. It just seems that Vintage Warmer 2 doesn't always play nice with DP. I'm not sure why. I don't think that DP is at fault, but I suppose there could be some kink in the code, because VW2 was also affecting my recording of MIDI notes (go figure).

I have written a note to PSP, so hopefully they will get back to me with some answers or suggestions. In the meantime, worry not. DP works well with most plug-ins. :-)

Can anyone who has purchasd and download the Mix Pack upgrade confirm whether the download is labeled "Mix Pack 2" or is it just labeled "Mix Pack"? The reason I'm asking is that I own Mix Pack 1, I purchased the upgrade, but on my download page it just lists "Mix Pack".

Regarding Vintage Warmer 2, I really haven't had any problems with it at all, other than it can be a bit CPU-heavy. That's why PSP issued the Vintage Warmer "lite" version, which comes in handy for projects with lots of plugs and tracks. I've had no issues with latency of any kind in DP with plugs from any manufacturer.

Maybe I'm just lucky...

Thanks for replying. You know what it's like - decide to change DAW to DP from Logic and suddenly you start reading about things not working ...

Anyway, I'm just off to now install my copy of DP that has just arrived!

Good question. Mix Pack 1 had audible delays. Esp. MixPressor. Put the Mix slider at 50%, and I could hear a slap delay. I asked Antoni about it, and he denied it was possible (even tho there are threads about this on his own forum). FWIW, this only happened on my laptop G4. On my Quicksilver G4, it worked fine. So, the latency may be somehow OS or hardware related is my best guess.

I use PSP Mixpack and VintageWarmer and experience no latency problems.

Now, if you try to track with these plugins inserted anywhere on the signal path (i.e., the given track, aux buss, 2-buss, etc.), you'll hear latency, but that's to be expected. They're mixdown plugs and latency compensation is a buffered mixdown function.

If you log into your account at PSP, and click the "show details" link, it will list the version as well as your authorization info. But you're right - the initial page that displays when you log in (without "showing details") only says MixPack. The other nice thing is that you can install version 2 and keep using MixPack 1 - there are new plugin IDs, so it won't mess up existing projects.

Yeah. Since not everyone is having these problems, it probably is something OS/hardware related. I just got a polite message back from PSP in which they didn't acknowledge that there could be any problem with the Vintage Warmer plug-in and advised me to "refer to DP's manual for details" on compensation. :?

In regards to compensation issues, I don't any of the PSP plugs, but there are some plug ins that fail to report or fail to report accurately the delay they incur to the host (this applies to Logic as well). If you believe this to be the case with PSP plugs, you can simply determine the delay incurred and then use Expert Sleeper's latency fixer plug-in to correct the issue.
