Bounce to disk, or not...

Post by gregwhartley »

Hello everybody! After fixing my control surface issues earlier today (http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... 861#197861), I am having new problems with bouncing to disk. Here's the message I get when I hit "Ok," where DP usually would start exporting the file:

"Digital Performer has encountered an error.

Mas, 1 error reported by Core Audio Export Plugin/Core Audio
support code:
/Users/dpdev/AutoBuild/DP/DP5_13x_Branch/MAS/Plug [-35]"

I've tried bouncing in wav, aiff, and even SDII in several sample rates and conversion qualities to no avail. I've trashed DP and reinstalled it with no luck either. Is there a prefs file for this that I can trash or rebuild or something?

I truly appreciate any help anybody can provide on this matter - the MCU issue wasn't causing many problems, but not being able to bounce to disk is halting my work! THANKS EVERYBODY!

Try taking any tracks that are record armed, out of record!!! This has been known to cause problems in some DP versions....

Ok, tried bouncing to a different disk - still get the error. Nothing record armed, I even tried disabling all automation, still no bouncing - only the same error. The only plugs I have are the ones that come with DP, nothing more, nothing less. Thanks so far...

Any other ideas?

BTW,

Leopard 10.5.1, DP 5.13, no plugs other than what came with DP.

Intel MacBook, 250GB HDD, 2GB RAM, MOTU Traveler.

Oh yeah, and a cold one (because, according to the property of ones, a one that is not cold is scarcely a one at all).

I stopped using BTD. I prefer mixing in real time to a stereo track. It is a easy way to check a mix later in the same environment. The time difference is a few more minutes. Then I export and master in Peak. BTD has always felt like voodoo to me.

Hi, all -

I'm having the same problem - only started happening today. It used to work fine - with exactly the same setup.

This is just out of left-field or something, but have you looked at your I/O bundles? Are all the Inputs, outputs and busses correctly assigned? And are all of your needed audio interfaces properly assigned in Hardware Setup?

I'm not sure why, but intuition is telling me this is a setup issue. Something's not set up right. Have you trashed preferences?

Thanks Shooshie, I just checked all bundles - everything is assigned properly. HW setup is good too. Where are the preferences located that I should trash?

Thanks for the input waxman, I'd really like to get BTD working again though.

You should have two digital performer preference files!

The first can be found in:

USER>LIBRARY>PREFERENCES

and should be called, com.motu.DigitalPerformer.plist

The second can be found in:

USER>LIBRARY>PREFERENCES>DIGITAL PERFORMER.

look for file called Preferences.

When DP isn't running trash these two files. Then try relaunching DP..

THANKS!

However, this didn't solve the issue.

Any other thoughts?

Error -35 is usually "resource not found". Now, that may mean that something was moved or deleted, or that a file that is needed has incorrect permissions and is not allowing access.

Be sure your Core Audio Export Plugin is located in:
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/MOTU Audio Export

and it is readable by your current user.

Interesting. This file is where it should be. To test whether it is functional under this user I tried BTD'ing a newer project and it worked fine. So, DP appears to be fine...

Learning this, I tried to bounce to disk from a backup of the project which I have on an external HDD. Same error... This is odd because the last time I had this backup project open I saved it, bounced to disk, and closed it. Now I'm completely confused. Thanks for the ideas guys, please keep them coming!

Okay, sorry guys. My name is not gregwhartley, it is We Todd It.

The original file I bounced to disk was titled "The Long, Long Road Final Mix Ver. 1 - No Lead Guitar". The one that I've been trying to bounce which has been giving me so much trouble was titled "The Long, Long Road Final Mix Ver. 1 - w/ Lead Guitar". That's right... I put a "/" in my title, like an idiot.

My lack of adhering to naming conventions wasted most of my day, and permanently diminished a good chunk of my sanity. Hopefully this lesson will help somebody else... maybe you, dalevin!
