Hey Roel... I just found what looks like a bug. I should probably write you directly but I thought it might help if other DP users confirmed this.

I downloaded the latest version of TP and the Sapphire module. I haven't actually heard it yet... just got to it tonight. Any way, when I loaded TP and clicked "About" it force quit Digital Performer. I repeated it and it did the same thing.

Hi James,

I've asked Martin to have a look at this thread to read your message since I'm not a 'Mac' person myself.

James,

there was indeed some problem with the about box which under certain conditions could cause a crash. Thanks for reporting this, noone else had noticed.

I have updated installer packages for 1.0.2 on our website to include the fixes, so just download the installer again and install on top of your old version, and this should be fixed.

I finally got back in town so I could update to Truepianos 1.0.2. It works fine as a standalone app, but it won't show up within DP as a VI. I use AudioUnit Manager and it recognizes the AU and says that it passed the AU Scan. The Truepianos.component is in the Components folder and is version 1.0.2.

Is there a suggested way to uninstall everything completely and then reinstall from scratch?

I have a feeling I'm overlooking the obvious but, so far, I can't figure it out.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

There was a problem with some hosts reporting some version mismatch in the AudioUnit version. This was fixed some time last weekend. I'm not sure if that's the issue you are encountering but if it is redownloading and installing the (silently updated) version should fix it.

You won't need to remove the prior installation for this.

Should the problems remain please use the Support form on our website to make sure your question reaches the appropriate person.

I'm a Windows user myself and the rest of the team is very busy with some other projects so they currently aren't monitoring forums as much as usual.

I just wanted you all to know that Martin updated v1.02 and it solved my problem I mentioned earlier. I really can't praise the guys at 4Front enough.

I'm going to drop Martin a line today also as I installed Leopard and now DP does not recognize TruePianos. I opened a project that had TruePianos on a track and got the Effect Missing dialog. True Pianos doesn't appear in the menu of instruments, even though it's there.

Hi James,

We are aware of that.. Even the installers fail.

We found out this week while asking our testers for inform us about Leopard compatibility. From what I read somewhere there will also be a Digital Performer update for Mac OS X. We will probably release a TruePianos update by end November and it's likely that it'll have official Leopard support then (or earlier with a silent update but without any reference to this on the website).

Just wanted to bump this and mention that there's a 20% off sale on TruePianos right now.... that's in addition to the great deal for UnicorNation.com members. One caveat: the Leopard-compatible version is not here yet, but coming soon. I am going to make a new thread for this news when I get a chance...

Hi!

I was just thinking that it would be great if truepianos were to add a piano module of an old, battered out-of-tune piano! A piano that's been sitting in the corner of some bar or pub somewhere for years, but hasn't been touched.... I love the sound of out-of-tune pianos in some situations!

I know I could adjust the tuning of one of the existing modules, and add eq/compression/reverb/fx to "age" the sound a bit.... Has anyone had any success doing this? I suppose what im looking for is a piano that's out of tune with itself! Adjusting the tuning knob on the piano will effect the overall tuning, but not individual notes! Anybody else have any thoughts?

Sorry, i'm just thinking out loud really!

Hi,

It's unlikely such a piano module will ever end up in TruePianos. Actually we decided over a year ago to avoid ever putting a honkytonk like piano in the product. For overall untuning load up two instances of TruePianos, layer them and put one of them -0..-8 cents out of tune while the other one will be +0..+8 cents out of tune and apply a slight chorus or one of or both layers. I'm typing this from memory but this is how I usually made HonkyTonk patches in the days I still worked with soundfonts. Individual note detuning is far more tricky of course.

Perhaps you can fake the feel by adding a background noise of a 'bar' in your recording :)
