Plugsound Pro at discount price.

Post by Patricio »

As a user of Ultimate Soundbank products i received today an email from them.
They are selling their PlugsoundPro Virtual instrument for 99 U$.
Orginal price was 299 U$.Its a Christmas deal.
The new price is much cheaper than the upgrade offer they had the last months for registered users :X
As they work close with Motu ( Symphonic Instrument0 i thought i post this subject overhere.

Maybe they have a new version coming.

That sounds entirely possible. They are still showing no support for RTAS or AU, so the only people who could use this would be DP users under MAS. Now that M5v2 is out, PSP actually has some competition.

I've found nothing so far about Leopard, so there appears to be plenty of motivation for them to put out an update.

Still, if DP users wanted to get into PSP, 65% off is hard to beat.

Hmmm... looks very tempting at $99. Yeah, but will it run under Leopard? That seems to be the kicker!!

That seems to be one of the reasons why it's $99! I think interest is gaining for Leo-compatibility, especially as we get closer to NAMM.

I just checked the site, and it does seem to support RTAS, AU, VST and MAS

Does that mean that by virtue of being MAS it is "Leopard proof," whereas it might not be if it were AU?

There may be a really good chance of that since the few 3rd party MAS plugs I have (WaveArts TrackPlug and Final) both worked fine under Leopard without skipping a beat.

It would be worth emailing them and checking to see if they will vouch for Leopard compatibility or not. I'm on PPC... so not as concerned right now about Intel support.

It runs fine under Leopard. I have PSP as well as the X-treme FX 'card' and use them all the time. Some excellent sounds. Chrispick turned me on to them and I really like them a lot.

You'll need about 12GB of HD space for the libraries. Damn! What a great price. I paid double that (and don't regret it). Tech support is a bit flakey. Fortunately, I don't need it much and the sales guys will hook you up with a Sr. tech if need be (they're in France, btw, so it is all email)

Ditto!

Seems well behaved with Leopard.
The only time I had to use tech support was when I upgraded to 10.4.9 via software update. Tech support responded swiftly and decisively: Use the combo installer.

I paid 3x the current price. No gripes.

I like it!

The ONLY problem I had with it has been when I forgot to updgade to the new version of PSP after migrating my system and the old version was somehow running. X-Treme FX crashed it everytime. BTW, X-Treme FX also runs under Universal UVI Player (UniversalUVIPlayer.app) under DP. PSP is a better choice, however.

Looks good!!! But add it to the cart and $29 for shipping! Where is it being sent from? All the way from France? I gotta wonder if there's somewhere else that will honor the pricing that won't charge $29 for shipping. Geez... it's a software box. It's called UPS. :(

Yeah, I emailed my guy, Keith at the GC in La Mesa to see if he can match it. Hell even with sales tax that'll save over $21. It's always weird when manufacturers do this. All the usual retailer web sites are still advertising this for $279 - $299 and I imagine if someone who didn't know about this paid it, they (the retailers) are not going to complain. :)

Geez... at $99 it seems like one of those no-brainers like Inspector XL was years ago when it was $69.

Fooks i just received this reply on my 2 questions about leopard support and future updates.
Good news.....but on my main Music system i still use Tiger.
So i haven't tested it on L.eopard.
I have always been a satisfied user of their products, support is always fast.

Quote :
"Yes, Plugsound Pro is Leopard compatible.
The latest version is still 1.0.4 . There might be updates of the Plugsound Pro engine quite soon."
