They WERE the s1a's btw sorry for the error.
The 2a was very flat and consistent throughout the range with a even more low end than the A7 which sounded less tight. They allowed me to balance them so it was all good in the end. The crappy little switcher had to be messed with though and untouched because the stereo pot was at the bottom of the range and LR image would change if you moved it.
I know there are allot of pitfalls in these comparisons for sure and you must take your time to figure it out or get as you imply, faked out.
Still haven't heard the 2.5a.
