I dunno. Maybe you can just ask them to. I mean, first of all, how long was your WUP out of commission? Maybe it depends on when you paid for it, or how long it was paid through. Or how badly you've been inconvenienced. Well, I think they owe it to every DP user with a paid-up-WUP. But I'm not in charge of that. Come to think of it, the guy was pretty iffy about it, like he didn't really want to do it, but felt like he should do something for me. Hmmm... Maybe it was "confidential." Oboy. I guess I let the cat out of the bag. Well, they should take care of the people whose money they took.

Agreed. They didn't extend my WUP either. Perhaps I wasn't vocal enough. I intend asking again for an extension once they get past the beta, which could take another 18 months!

I inquired about WUP several months ago and was told to save my email response from them and, once the DP 5.12 compatible version is released, they will extend my WUP (I don't know by how much, however).

The reason I haven't contacted them yet is because the current version is a Beta. I don't want my WUP extended until the Beta has been turned into a final version. I don't think the Beta should count against my WUP time...even though, it is working very well.

I've got to report on my L3 Multi-Maximizer: WOW!

And now, for an observation: when trying to save plugin presets in the Save menu, a curious thing happens. The "untitled preset" that appears in the dialog box is highlighted, and then the moment I move my mouse the highlighting goes away, and it won't allow me to click in the box to insert the cursor. Nor will it save unless I make a title. So, the work around is to have your hand ready to type the first letter of your title, then pull down the menu to "Save User Preset" (or whatever it says) and as soon as the dialog appears, type that letter. Once you start typing, you're good to go, and it won't knock you out of the dialog unless you move your mouse. It replaces the untitled default and when you're done typing in your title, hit save, and it works just fine. Your preset title appears in the Load menu. But if you're not quick with that typing, or if you move the mouse before you do, then you'll have to cancel and do it again until you get it right. We should send this to Waves, assuming it happens on everyone else's system. (I hope it's not just mine!)

So far I've not had a single crash or non-working plugin. They even said that Tune doesn't work, but mine worked. (except that I don't have ReWire, which you need to complete the process)

Just in case, I always stop the music before opening a plugin interface. I don't know if it makes any difference. I've done it a few times with the music playing, and it opened just fine. So... no crashes so far. Everything is working, except that Save dialog, and there's a workaround for it until they fix it. Write them a letter!

Hey Shooshie,

I just wanted to reiterate a fact about the revisions that Waves made to their WUP plan. You mentioned in a prior post about having to pay the $200 WUP each year to maintain your status. That is not the case any more. The WUP plan can now lapse for as many years as you want. When you finally decide to upgrade, you will pay only one $200 WUP fee and your golden again. It no longer builds up each year and they no longer require you to pay for the time you didn't pay. You only pay when you want it now.

For example, let's say your WUP expired today but you're happy with the software and are having no problems. Let's say you then go two years without needing to upgrade to their current version. At that time, you will only pay the one $200 fee, not $400. For that matter you could go 10 years and only pay the $200 when you decide to upgrade. Also, it's only $200 if you reach their maximum WUP fee due to having a lot of their plugs. If you only have a few plugins, you won't even pay that...

Anyways, I just wanted to clarify the WUP policies since a lot of people still talk as if the old crappy WUP rules still apply. The new policies are MUCH better. I just want accurate info out there for people that may be making a decision to purchase Waves plugins. And no, I'm not a Waves employee, I just love their plugs.

Sounds much better, Rainmaker. I came across my receipt for the last time I paid for WUP. It was $563.

I have been an Apple customer since Jobs was in diapers. He gave me a whopping $100 dollars in store credit after charging me $200 bucks more 60 days prior for an iPhone...

Ahh that is about $600 bucks a year. Maybe Jobs is advising waves or Jobs say what waves was doing and thought... ahh I should be able to screw my customers at least 3 times worse...

If you have not re wupped for a few years and you want to get wupped are they going to charge you for every year? ahh just saw Rainmakers post

I received an email a few weeks ago from Waves stating that they were going to extend WUP for free for all DP users. That said, it feels like dealing with a byzantine process. I can't beta test the DP version because WUP expired, but how do they know I'm primarily a DP user? Well, time to fire off another email to tech support, which seems to be my full time job these days. It's getting to the point where I am forgetting how to make music.

.

I also have an email they sent me like 3-4 months ago telling me they'd extend my WUP to make up for the "inconvenience".

It IS written by a Waves rep, so they BETTER keep their word regarding that :?

So since my WUP expired June 2006 and DP5 was released April 2006 does this mean that they will extend my WUP? :D I don't even use DP5 yet.

I think we would be lucky if they extend our WUPs for 6 months...

Ok I'm in... it all works, even new menu's on the Impulse verbs and I even was able to load plugs while playing and hit the . and go to a bar... all is forgiven...

I'm glad Mr Waves cause you made me by Altiverb. Waves you get all the credit... You had me in mind the whole time... What thoughfulness.

They extended my wup through 10/1/09... so they gave me an extra year...

I getting all teary eyed. I hear Kenny G. playing in the background...

Pimp me again mr waves... You own me
