Setting sequence to soundbite tempo

Post by Mugambi »

Hi all-

After using DP 4.52 for several months now, I'm not convinced its interface is more comprehensive than protools. It seems what takes one move in protools, takes two or three in DP. Am I missing something here?

Also, I tried to speed up a whole song one bpm and it sounded horrible. I selected the soundbite, set soundbite tempo and then set soundbite to sequence tempo. Song was wobbling and bass was all over the place. Did not sound good at all. Come on only one bpm faster! Is this pilot error?

Am I hallucinating that DP is way slower and more cumbersome to operate than protools?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Are you just using audio tracks or is there MIDI tracks involved as well?

Just a stereo mix that was a little to slow.
Thanks.

Sorry.
I've only ever used the sequence/soundbite tempo feature when using audio tracks with MIDI tracks. This feature is brillant when you have both. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. Maybe try setting the BPM to what you want - step recording in one measure of quarter notes (via MIDI of course) and then use the soundbite tempo/set to sequence features. You can always mute/del the MIDI track later. To just manipulate a stereo mix, I suggest using Peak or even Peak LE (the audio editing features are easier and better in Peak). I'll do some playing around though this evening and see if I can't find a better answer for you.
Check your front edit of the audio also. Does it have a fade in? Extra silence? Something like this could be effecting your tempo as well...

Thanks for the info! I do have a cymbal roll up front to introduce the song but I selected the whole soundbite. I will make sure it lines up in DP and then try. I also will try peak. Thanks.

Do you like DP over PT?
