Dumb Mac tricks # 785...

Post by MIDI Life Crisis »

I've been looking for a way to open Sound Preferences with a key command, but can't seem to find a way to do it.

Then today I hit the Option key while hitting the volume key on the old keyboard and... you guessed it. Sound Preferences opened.

Just thought I'd share for all you newbies who are just itchin' for fun things to do between gigs.

OS X will never stop to impress me with all these hidden shortcuts... I use blacktree's quicksilver for everything on my computer so I've never even thought of doing that...

Nice one MLC

Too bad the opt-$ key doesn't do the same thing. In fact. it reduces my money from $ to • (just like the stock market - this week being an exception).

Dang Magilla, you're a wise old simian; thank you very much.

I thought I'd smacked every key combination possible when bangin' out sonnets with my 98 mates.
Guess my marathon typing efforts aren't random after all.
Hmmm... this raises all sorts of questions and has significant implications.
I'm off to the lab where I can access the CRAY-1. :?

jlaudon, what would the brightness key equivalent on my G5 keyboard be?
Do you know? Anyone? My instant response key is stuck... :D

F14 and F15 cover brightness on the white Apple Pro Keyboards. Great trick.
