Anyone else see this as a description of their own strange DP5 behaviors?

I'm sorry to re-revive this thread but maybe it makes more sense than starting a new one.

All of a sudden I can no longer Bounce to Disk without everything sounding like it is in a delay feedback loop. No matter how many audio tracks I try to bounce (12 or 2), no matter which firewire Audio box I use (828MKII or Saffire Pro26) DP5.12 juust started doing this. Two days ago it was fine.

The only non-DP plugs I'm using that are not printed are Liquid Mix instances set to run in realtime (Compression and EQ). Again this set up was working until two days ago.

What did I do two days ago? I don't know but DP did crash before these problems started.

Trying to get the audio out of the computer I resurrected a DAT machine which promptly ate the new DAT tape after not working with the 828 SPDIF. A fine diversion.

I can now record to a new Stereo track through a bus after reinstalling DP5, audio drivers and firewire drivers and then running Onyx. Before that only silence. But BTD is still corrupt.

MBP 2.16 2GB 10.4.10

Anyone else have something like going on?

The first step is to return it to some state at which it starts working again. Remove plugins one at a time. Turn off automation. Disable tracks. Eventually you'll find something that makes it go back to normal. Then you start adding back the things you removed, not including the one that seemed to make the difference. And so on...

Thanks, Shooshie,
I did get a chance to try BTD with another project and BTD worked just as fine as ever.

In the original project (where BTD creates a horrible file), after recording to track however, all the tracks then play back out of time.

This means, I think, that it not DP, hardware or a particular plug-in causing these problems but a somehow corrupted project file.

I think I'm going to render all of the tracks that have plug-ins, open a new project and bring in the audio. Right now that would be easier than using the process of elimination and playing the old settings and plug-in incompatibility game of hide and seek... unless it happens again!

Hmmm...
I saved my rotten file, restarted and now BTD works again after three days.
A mystery.

How did you go about fixing things?

Well I should have been more scientific about but I'm not sure it would have mattered.

I disconnected the MOTU828MKII and took it out the Firewire chain (when I did this with the SaffirePro 26 there was no remedy). For this project I was using the 828 as the hardware device not an aggregated audio device.

Remember that set up was doing fine with other projects.

Anyway, after hooking up only the SaffirePro 26 (and Liquid Mix) and changing the outputs of the tracks I wanted to use to the Main Audio Outs 1-2 on the SaffirePro 26 I saved the project. I didn't fiddle with any of the DP or LM plug-ins or the Ozone which was bypassed on the master track, or any busses. I did a BTD and it was fine. All playback using mutes etc. was fine after that. Previously if I tried muting or changing settings on various tracks (before the save) the tracks would play back "unsynced".

Could I have been overloading the Firewire Buss? I don't think so since
1) the project is not especially large
2) All other projects using similar setup and plugs never had this problem

So what could have made the difference? The Save? How?

I can't say.

A mystery...
