Like I said earlier, I would have been happy to stick with 4.61, but I had to update to 5 for intel compatibility. So far it's been running great. I feel that with DP5 and Reason 3, I can sit tight for a while and maybe actually get some music made. I'm finally getting to where I don't feel like I have to update to the newest thing to get features that I need or to fix something(or just because it's there).

I'm sure that I'll have to update to 10.5 for some reason, and everything will get screwed up, but for now things are working as well as they ever have for me.

I recently said goodbye to my G4 Dual 800 and bought a Intel iMac. So I had to get DP 5. All I can say is that I am VERY impressed with 5.12 on the iMac. Everything is both better, faster and rock solid.

On my G4, using 4.5 and 4.61, if I did three actions and forgot to save, the program would quit. DP 5, for me, is like the dream version of DP we've been talking about for a couple of years. Could it be even better? Of course. Every program can be tweaked, I suppose, but I'm a real happy camper right now.

I am inclined to say that your new computer is making a much larger difference than the move fro dp4 to dp5.
