How would I hook up the SMPTE synchronization?

Post by rverne10 »

:? Just wondering, not that I'll ever make it to moviedom, but if I wanted to use the MOTU micro express and stripe all of my compositions with SMPTE synchronization where would I plug in the wires?
anybody willing to teach a mini seminar on all of this goboldy gook from MOTU?
* SMPTE time code (LTC) generater and reader
* Converts LTC to MIDI Time Code (MTC) to sync a Mac, PC or any other devices to SMPTE time code
* Converts all SMPTE frame rates (24, 25, 29.97 drop, 29.97 non-drop, 30)
* Stripes SMPTE time code in all frame rates (24, 25, 29.97 drop, 29.97 non-drop, 30)
* Converts MIDI Time Code to SMPTE time code
* SMPTE "Jam Sync" with adjustable freewheeling for dropout-free sync
* Supports MIDI Machine Control - serves as either an MMC master or slave, distributes MMC transport commands to all other MMC devices
I have an Echo Gina 24/96 sound card, Intel Pentium4, 3Ghz, 2Gb RAM, Radeon 9250 video card, Plextor DVDR PX-740 A, running Sonar Producer 4 (or maybe Cubase 4) and am thinking of using the Micro Express but not sure if I really need the SMPTE or maybe just go with the micor lite.
Say a movie producer comes along later and likes my music, can I reprocess to stripe with the SMTPE?
One can dream can't one?
thanks in advance.
