Drum sample replacement with DP

Hey all,

I've been wondered about this : how is it possible to replace some drum beats by samples in DP ?
I mean I have my snare track, I want to mix it with a snare sample coming from an external library. I can duplicate the snare track and then cut it on every transient by finding the beats in soundbites. But then ? How do you ask DP to put that sample instead of the original beat at each beginning of soundbites ?

Use the trigger plug
You could also boost one frequency a lot to make your hit ring, print this as another track and then take the resulting notes in the pitch view to put as in a MIDI track. You then have your hits information as MIDI so use whatever sampler you want...

You shouldn't need to force a particular pitch. If DP's pitch detection can't find a pitch, it will show a gray block on C3. You can just copy & paste this C3 data to a new track, transpose the MIDI to the desired note if needed, then trigger the sampler of choice.

But I always thought that the gray block weren't recognized as MIDI? Thanks I didn't know about that... I've never had to use that method for drum replacmement yet...

Melodyne will analyze an audio drum track and create a MIDI file that you can export. You can then use that MIDI file to trigger a sampled drum kit.

It doesn't look like it would be, but if you copy & paste those gray blocks onto a MIDI track they will indeed be C3s.

Aptrigga is the best.

The DP trigger plug isn't even close to sample accurate or even consistently inaccurate. If you want to use it to replace a drum hits and have the samples line up with the bleed in other tracks, you need to move each hit to line up to the original. With Aptrigga it's literally plug in and go. And, it's cheap.

I got Aptrigga since a few years, for 30 euros it's a steal !!
I sometimes have some problems with mistriggering, so that's why I think it's A LOT easier when you can see the sampled track, and can adjust the missing hits where it's necessary too, especially on some snare rolls. What do you think of that ? I'm sure it's possible.
