If it works for you that's cool. It's great when we find something to be excited about. To each their own. For some reason, and I don't know why exactly, this plug-in bores the hell out of me. I think it sounds dull and lifeless. I tried it for ten days and I really didn't care for it. Maybe it's over my head or something.
I wanted so bad to love this plug, but ended up not really thrilled. Good luck to those who love it!!

They want access to your iLok for the DEMO? I don't think so. Talk about paranoia! NOBODY touches my dongle... well, almost nobody.666 wrote:I'd like to try it but I'm worried about my iLok getting screwed up from the demo. Am I being way too paranoid?

They deposit the demo license on your iLok - this is not unusual at all. I own the Classic Console Compressor Bundle from URS and have demo'd other plug-ins from URS and no problems. Just make sure you are downloading the proper version for demo - there's instructions on the download page. Can't wait to try the Strip Pro.

I'm in my fifth decade of not using Waves products. Let the tradition continue. Speaking of tradition, I think this "vintage" trend has just about run it's course. There's no excuse for any EQ, gate or compressor plug not to have a graphical display with real-time animation of the pre and post effects of your settings. You'd think that in 2007, manufacturers would have figured out what gave "vintage" equipment it's magic, and incorporate it into modern designs along with twenty-first century improvements.

I'm almost afraid to try it - if it were available at GC or Sweetwater the financing would make things easier, but even with the discount it's a lot to drop at once. Still, it would be nice to know I could do without a UAD-1 card if need be - it would be very freeing.

As some folks here may be aware, I started the thread here on the URS Channel Strip Pro, the day it was released. Those of you who posted or read know already that I am a huge fan of this plugin. These compressors sound the most like analog gear of any plugin I have ever used and I have used a great many. I have every plugin for UAD1 and I love them, I even bought the Neve Strip and I like it too. It (the Neve Strip) is a very different beast than CSP.
You really have to spend some time with CSP to appreciate what it really does. The input stages are incredible and strap one of these on the 2 bus with a tape 15ips simulation and it is heaven IMHO.
You can get a substantial discount from High Profile Audio if the promotion is still running and IMHO this is a plugin you would never regret buying and find it real hard to out grow. Of coarse, YMMY. There is a huge thread on CSP at gearslutz.com you might want to check ouy.
Peace!

Yeah... I noticed the URS is doing a 20% discount on their online store as well through July.

Hey James - any chance of trying for a group buy on this one? I posted about it already and a few people have shown interest already, plus I know that URS is allowing at least one online retailer to offer a less than $500 price special ($475 to be exact). Just a thought.

I agree. Except the urs plug has better ssl emu eqs, and a much better (deeper, not 2d like the waves one) version of the ssl bus comp. Not to mention it has a gazillion other features. All of the waves vintage comp simus sound like vegas backdrops, they look nice and sound good, until you get close and realise there is no front to back.mcgwd wrote:Tried it out at my friends studio this past weekend, not worth it at that price. The Waves SSL plugs have more bang for the buck IMHO.If it makes someone happy and they get better mixes then it has served it purpose.
