Akai and Emu hardware samplers, can be consolidated into 1?

Hello all,

I'm still using Akai and Emu hardware samplers, but was wondering if there are any technologies or softwares that can consolidate all the sampler CDs into one universal software sampler such as Tascam's Gigastudio or Mach 5. Fairly new to the whole idea of it, so appreciate any advice.

Kontakt has worked great for me... I now have all of my Akai samples and programs available in DP via the Kontakt plugin VI. The import/translation into K2 went without a hitch for all but two (of many) programs. Loading is sooo much quicker than it was with the old SX3000! No more memory limitations either.

The Akai hardware was good, serving me well for many years. K2 is better.

I remember starting out on the old S950, heck I even owned a Roland S10! Man, have times changed these days huh?

I used Kontakt 2 to convert my EIII sample disks. The results were laughable. Pianos and most acoustic stuff translated OK, but anything that involved LFOs or amp/filter envelopes just got default/generic assignments.

I've heard that CDXtract is the way to go, certainly for E-mu samples, but I haven't bought it myself yet. The demo only allows you to convert the first file on any CD-ROM. On all of mine, that first file is invariably a piano, an acoustic instrument, or a sound effect.
