8pre clicks, pops, and beeps

So I'm recording in Audition 2.0, just using my bass direct in. I laid down a few tracks and then my 8pre started clicking/popping and beeping (three times per occurrence). I then tried to go play the tracks I recorded and I was greeted with loud garbage coming out of my headphones (I have Audition output to the 8pre) instead of what I recorded. This doesn't happen every time; sometimes it will play for a few seconds then go nuts. What the hell is going on?

Have you got an active wi-fi adapter when this happens?, I have to switch off the wi-fi on my laptop otherwise I get all sorts of noise.

I don't even have a wifi adapter in my computer, but I did figure something out. I have three soundcards in my computer. I was using my old Sound Blaster PCI128 to go line out, convert to mono, then into the 8pre so I could use Reason in Audition without having to use ReWire (which sucks, as far as I can tell). As soon as I removed that card and started using my on-board audio, the problem went away. Well, I hope the problem went away and it's not just a fluke. Thanks for the response anyway, I appreciate it.
