Mac OS Crash
Hello,
I have 10.4.9 and today for the first time, I saw a crash window that i've never seen before. It came up on my right monitor (of 2) and it was a black box with "your computer needes to be restarted, press and hold the power button... blah blah" or something to that effect, but it was also in 4 languages.
Is this:
a) normal?
b) serious?
c) going to keep hapening?
Thanks for any input!

Re: Mac OS Crash
It is called a kernal panic and is normal, but should be infrequent. It is what USED TO BE called a system crash. In OS X, most often programs that crash don't crash the system. But sometimes, the system DOES crash.
You should be sure to repair permissions immediately and on a regular basis. You might want to CAREFULLY run a utility such as ONXY (freeware) to clean up you system.

Thanks. It only happened 2 times, and hasn't happened since. I heard from a friend that osx 10.4.10 was released yesterday, so i'll apply that as well, and look into Onyx.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

I've been getting the same multi-language crash myself. I'm not sure yet if it depends on the size/complexity of a project. Pretty brutal crash, though; the ominous dark screen...audio freezes then stutters...downright frightening.
I'll try the repair permissions thing. (I'm not a Mac newbie, but I am relatively new to OSX and my Intel iMac...still figuring it all out)

I haven't tried any of this yet. I've been very busy the past few days. So I think I will attempt do to this later today. But, what exactly does it mean to repair the permissions?

Repair permissions with the Disk Utility.
Disk Utility is inside the Utilities folder.
Here is some info:
