Hey, thanks for that. It reminded me of Starland Vocal Band's a-capella version of Paul Simon's American Tune -- the best thing they ever did. Maybe the only thing they ever did that was worth committing to vinyl. It was a wonderful rendition, and now I've got THAT going through my head instead of La Vida Loca or Afternoon Delight!
:)

I may have to look for that one. Why is it always the better songs (or arrangements) that get overlooked?

"Afternoon Delight" is actually a kind of freaky, strange, inbred and subversive song.

I had to listen only to that and the Bellamy Brothers song, "Let your Love Flow" for about two weeks, over and over. I think it was 1976.

Not a hostage situation but definitely scarring.
Although I did consider both of these songs they did not make it to the playlist from hell; as ugly as they are/were, they aren't intrisically as hypocritical, weak and lame as those I previously listed.

Man, I hope this isn't a Stockholm Syndrome kind of thing...

Wow. I can think of no greater examples of 70's AM white-bread-and-mayo pop than those two examples.

If you'd added "Have You Never Been Mellow?" and "Chevy Van" I would've fainted into a pool of beige. You would've had to resuscitate me with back-to-back "Convoy" and "Disco Star Wars."

Ah, Meco...

Ok, ok. So maybe I have heard Livin' La Vida Loca. It was just a joke. Just a joke.

"Billy don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life..."

Wait, are we in another thread?
