... despite all the whinging and gnashing of teeth, a free upgrade (with or without library) to a very good product will suffice for me.

That alone is a brow raiser, considering that's almost four times the version 1 sound bundle.
Shouldn't be; I predicted this many times, after all. :D
I pointed out that most reviewers weren't impressed by the original library offering, and that MOTU would surely address this weakness in kind.
I've always said that it'll blow K2 away; remember the chants?
No need to chant now; MOTU magic is on its way! Yay!
Just watch MOTU dance their way onto the floor with this one...

Good ol' MOTU, and shame on all you nay-sayers.
RCory, go on, roll your eyes and sigh now, sucka!

You realise, of course, that I meant no malice by this, RC?
It's just that I've had to wait sooo long to say it! Sigh.

my guess...it'll be the same explanation that they're giving for the MIDI problems in DP5 (a.k.a. deafening silence)

As one who does software development for a day gig, the performance difference of a G5 vs a Core Duo is amazing. As soon as I could I upgraded my work machines. In particular, the second processor is a big help. On large compiles, both processors were fully utilized and the same build task was 2 minutes on the G5 vs about 20 sec on the lowly iMac Intel v1.

I can only imagine what life with the new 8 core mac pro is. Now we just need the software...:-)

this is exciting news, it has been a long wait.

I have long since sold my copy of mach5.

it was my favorite sampler, but it does not work w/ ableton live.

I really want to give it a try.

The fact that MachFive doesn't even appear on the MOTU splash page is not very promising. DP, Ethno and SI are prominent, but poor old M5 along with MX4 are just orphans...

Come to think of it, wasn't M5 the name of the computer in that old Star Trek episode where the computer is programmed to take over the ship and starts blasting away at the other star ships?

You predicted it, indeed, but confirmation always comes as music to ones ears. Call it elation. You could even call it vindication, in a sense. We don't always get what we hope for, but this is clearly a nice plus.

2012 for the calender I think, many thanks Bill.
Yup, I can confirm a Mayan I once met thinks it's 2012*, which explains why there's no Mayan team in the London Olympics**.

Hooray for Mach5v2012!

I put the release copy of MachFive V2.0 in my will just in case the skydiving thing becomes an issue and I don't see 2012...see "This is what's up with MachFive according to MOTU 4-23-07" thread

What problems with Live? I had a few at first but figured out how to get past it.

Sorry, I'm getting a bit confused - are you skydiving in the London 2012 Olympics? Is it a demonstration sport? Why do you use a sampler? Perhaps a parachute would be better? Or is software development also now an Olympic sport? Come on MOTU! Come on MOTU! Ooooh! etc.

I'm using Live for composition as well. You'll be happy to know that Mach5 works fine with Live as an AU. So does MX4. You just have to make sure you have both the MAS and AU version installed to go between DP and Live.
