DP not accepting Key code???

Hi.

I just got my 2408 PCI and AudioDesk2 along with it. and the update Audiodesk-DP 4.5.

MAC brandnew 1.8 dual, 1,2 GB Memory.

Hardware up and running. cool.

BUT I installed Audiodesk and DP and BOTH don‘t accept their Keycodes??

Please insert Installer CD. Ok, fine. Type Keycode, says OK(!), CD starts whining••¦wait 20 seconds••¦ please insert Cd and type Keycode. Duh.

Restart.

no effect. Any Ideas?
never had that sort of problem before with any software in the last 10 years••¦

What are you typing in for the keycode ??

Also, you may want to cmnd + F on your desktop and search for name contains auth w/search criteria set to look for invisible and visible items.

Find the auth-audiodesk and auth-digitalperformer and trash them.

Then try typing in the keycode

I‘m typing in the key-code printed inside th manual. The Key-Code dialog flips to OK.
and then it starts all over again and again

there‘s no auth_audio or something like that on the whole machine.

repairing permissions did not help either.

if this was on the internet i‘d say I diabled Cookies••¦ : (

may be I‘ll go back to audio tape machines.

No, I just got it, fresh out of the box.

May be i should get some sleep and try again tomorrow.
Right now the interface doesn‘t work anymore••¦ random noise, no sync internal, lights flashing. no apparent reason.

That's actually the behavior I believe you get if the CD isn't in the drive. Maybe it's a dirty CD? Funky drive?

Well, if the CD isn‘t in the drive, it immediatly asks again.

The whole thing seems to be pretty weird.
the 2408 simply doesn‘t work, valid keycodes are rejected••¦

Is it possible that you get trouble with english software on a german system?

You keycode that you are typing in looks like this XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX correct ?? There is no reason why this should be happening with both audiodesk and DP .. ?? I can't imagine this is related to language.

I had this... there is advice at Motu.com
you need to repair disk permissions:

(follows quote from Motu support)

Q: After I installed Digital Performer, AudioDesk, or Unisyn, entered my name and keycode, and pressed okay, the box disappears for a few seconds and then asks for my name and keycode again or says my demo version has expired.

A: This is due to incorrect file permissions.

Mac OS X has a system of access privileges for each user that can become skewed over time. If the file permissions are not as they should be, the operating system will think that you do not have the access privilege to write the authorization file and will not allow it to be written. To correct the file permissions:

Go to Applications/Utilities and open Disk Utility.

Select the volume from which OS X boots.

Choose Repair Disk Permissions (Apple recommends repairing your disk permissions from your OSX boot disk's Disk Utility).

When that process has completed, launch the application.

When you are prompted to do so, put the Installer CD in the CD-ROM, enter your name and keycode, and press OK. It should now accept the keycode and launch the application.

Before you re-install (if you choose to do so) are you making sure you threw out the 'Reciept' in the receipts folder?

This is often overlooked.
Don't throw anything out unless you're sure what it is.

There are two receipts folders.
One in your Home directory, on in the Main directory.

This is worth a call to MOTU -- something isn't right with your CDs (I know Disc 2 of my DP4 was a mess)

Let them help you tear your hair out.

solved.
the weird cracklin of the 2408 disappeared.
and I installed both audiodesk and DP.

After I got rid of Cubase SL2 and it‘s dongle-licence-software bull..... by formatting the drive!

right now everything look fine.
thank you anyway for all replies.

Never Install Cubase ona anything higher than 10.2.8!!!
