8pre and behringer ADA8000 sync problems
I am trying to use my 8Pre as the master and sync up this ADA8000 for 8 more inputs. I am using the top row of optical ins and outs as instructed and have set the optical mode to 1x on the front panel. Here is the weird part... the ADA8000's led says it is "locked" to the 8pre but the 8pre will not receive any signal from the ADA8000. At least I think it is not because I assume the optical in LED on the 8pre should light up when it is synced with another device. Can anyone help me please? I am so frustrated right now! thanks,

half way there! PLEASE HELP ME!
Ok so I now have the two synced up great. I am slaving the 8pre off of the ada8000 and the clock source is set to optical at 44.1. i have also tried 48. Anyway i can direct monitor in the cuemix console. I can see and hear signal from the the 8pre and the ada8000 but the signals from the ada8000 will not rout to my recording software. ( nuendo 3 ) I have tried all the settings I can think of in Nuendo. All the inputs are visible in the VST inputs window. I have a mic plugged into the 8pre and that one gets into Nuendo but the mic that is plugged into the ada8000 will not. i don't get i because I can hear and see BOTH in the Cuemix console and it usually just mirrors whatever is going on in Nuendo. HELP!

I'm not familiar with Nuendo, but it sounds like maybe your ASIO driver needs to be configured to include your ADAT now that it's working. I use Samplitude, and when the ADAT is off, the ASIO driver drops those channels off of the available in/out. When the ADAT is back on, the ASIO driver adds them to the list, but I have to go into the driver check each ADAT in and out to make them available in Samplitude again. There may be something similar going on between Nuendo and your ASIO driver.

The 8pre does not have a BNC connector for word clock.
The manual states that the 8pre sends word clock to ALL channels...I dont know how it works...I guess just automatically..

still cant figure it out
It seems like they are synced up just fine. I must have something set wrong in Nuendo or somewhere else because I am getting signal to the computer. Any ideas? Anyone?

try it the other way arround.I am slaving the 8pre off of the ada8000
I think, motu has a better clock to sync from.
Try this.
setup the 8pre (the 8pre alone) so nuendo accepts it.
devices >> device setup >> VST multitack >> motu asio driver
When this unit works fine as a stand alone then it's time to work with behringer.
Hook it up with the adat cables slaving it to the 8pre.
Enable the adat inputs like you did before
Then go the nuendo menu devices
device setup
check if just under VST multitrack (i think it's VST inputs) nuendo has seen the adat inputs. Otherwise click refresh.
And that should do the trick
To groove or not to groove?
thanks but...
That was actually the first way i tried it and the MOTU guys actually told me to slave the 8pre to the ada8000. i will give give it another try though because i have tinkered a bit since then.
