DP will not save time formats??

Post by celticrogues »

Hi All!
I seem to be having a bit of a problem: I recently upgraded to DP 5 (5.11 now) and I am having trouble getting the program to save the time formats in a project.

By this I mean that I can start a new project and adjust the main and secondary counters to display the time format I want (usually frames and real time) and also adjust the marker window, etc. to display the format I want. When I save the file and open it later, however, both counters and all of the other time displays have reset to their defaults.

Is there a way to change this so that it saves with the file, or am I doing something wrong? This is obviously not a huge deal, but it is annoying.

Thanks a bunch!
-Mike

What ? You don't like that new feature introduced in 5.x ?.... hum.... Unfortunately, that's a very annoying bug that wasn't here in pre 5 versions... We have to live with it until MOTU fixes it. I don't understand why it hasn't been addressed yet, since we're at 5.11 now... It's been a while...

If you set it up with the 'time format' dialogue it should stick. option-command-T I believe.

Yeah this is what I have been doing - thanks morpheo for reassuring me that I am not just doing something stupid. I guess I'll just wait until MOTU decides that this should be fixed
Cheers,

I fired off an email to Motu about it..no response.
Guess they've been hearing it from others.

In the Time formats window select desired format, open the "mini menu" and select "Save current time format to" (project name)

Works for me

Is this what you're discussing?

Is this what you're discussing? I'm able to save 1 timeformat but unable to see any, as you can see. (or not, rather)

(Wanted to try out the subject field in an existing thread. I therefore wrote a headline of my own just to see where it goes. Ok! I got a small headline of my own). :P

If I save the time format to the project it works fine. If I simply set the time format and don't save the format but save the file, it reverts to measures on next launch.

I would like the program to default to FRAMES (or maybe real time). There doesn't seem to be a way to do that.

Same Problem for me too. It realy is anoying.

If anyone has a workaround it would be wonderful. I work for broadcast TV everyday so i need frames and not mesures. it not a big deal but a pita to change it everytime you open a project.

MLC solution is good

If you are a TV guy I bet most of your projects could be made from a template - Dont use the DP ones! make your own get everything as you like..

now to create a new project - open YOUR template and save as ( and Duplicate - I'm a film guy so I have BEEPS etc and automation set up - (insert vol etc on each track... compressor etc on your Voice Over channel (s)..

SFX to sfx sub, foley to foley sub, ambiences to ambience submaster

I even have the time formats saved to project (oops sorry! ) I'd actually forgotten about this glitch!

And now something completely different.

This goes beyond my knowledge. Suddenly I have a Time Format named Samples Copy. I know that I've accidentally pushed the key-command for showing sample time in all windows (I meant to toggle solo mode). Then I started exploring those time format shortcuts, analyzing what they did. But I'm totally shure of not having made any copying. Well, at least I have a format to duplicate. So I hopefully I'll be able to make dozens of presets. :)
