Ultralite 1.1 firmware ???

Post by sleddog »

I simply can't find anything substantial ...I'm probably blind. But...

What does this firmware update fix? Does it do anything new? If one installs it and it doesn't work, how can one remove it and go back to 1.0?

Thanks in advance.

Where did you find an Ultralite firmware 1.1 update? I can't seem to find this anywhere on MOTU's site - there's only a firmware 1.07 update for the Traveller (which must obviously not be installed on the Ultralite).

What I hope will get fixed is the severe problems whenever the sample rate on sound fed by the computer changes while playing.

There used to be a 1.1 firmware update but it totally ••••ed up the Ultralite.

Ultralite Firmware 1.15 for Windows

Post by midihead »

MOTU has just posted firmware version 1.15 for the Ultralite for both PC and Mac. I haven't tried it myself... I ended up sending my Ultralite back last week. Thought you'd like to know in case you wanted to try to "save" your Ultralite if it's going nuts.

How are you supposed to know whether you should attempt to install the update or not when there's no release notes? This is just unprofessional.

I agree with you. This lack of detail is one of the reasons I returned my Ultralite...aside from the main fact that I couldn't get it to work normally after trying EVERYTHING you can think of for over 2 weeks. I even tried to get the firmware downgrade to 1.0...MOTU at first sent me the Mac version when I have a PC, then sent the PC version but there was something wrong with the installer. When that wouldn't work, they later said that I need to make sure that I properly unzipped the file they sent before installing it...the file they sent was already unzipped. After 2 failed attempts to get the downgrade, I just decided to send it back. A couple of days later, they posted firmware version 1.15 which I'd say is a clear acknowledgement that there was a problem with 1.10 (which was pulled form their site not long after they released it). I would advise avoiding the 1.10 update altogether based on all the posts about it on this forum.

Firmware 1.15 isues

Post by Guitarmuzic »

I upgraded the firmware to the 1.15 and my ultralite behavior was far worse than the 1.10. It would lock up almost 90% of the times it was powered on when connected to the computer. I also expierienced more dropouts after I finally got it talking with the computer without locking itself up. I re-loaded the 1.10 firmware and it is back to working much better. I don't think this 1.15 firmware upgrade helped anything in my case. I'm using the ultralite with a Dell Inspiron E1505 with the onboard Ricoh 4 pin firewire port. (I can't use the ultralite with my TI firewire expresscard - it locks up the computer, a whole seperate issue!)

MOTU returned an e-mail to me and said the Ultralite Firmware 1.15 update improves compatibility with certain types of external FireWire hard drives.

I finally updated to firmware 1.15 for the Ultralite. I had no problem/s once the installation had been completed. Although, it seemed to take a while to load, so be patient until it says it has been successfully installed.
