Just noticed that motu has released an update to the firewire/usb drivers for the mac... I have not got the chance to see if this solves the problem yet I do not have time until tomorrow to test...

Just got the unit changed in the store where I bought it because the fault resurfaced.
Got a new one with Firmware version 1.1.0.
No problems so far.

Add another one to the list of people blithely updating themselves into hell......

UltraLite was working flawlessly for months, today I dl'd and installed both the firmware 1.10 and universal driver 1.4.3 updates, resulting in the same random audio volume problems.....

Now I have to say "Oops........." (kicking myself and saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!")

And, I may have blown my Mackie 824s.... I won't know until I can SAFELY turn them back on again, but the noise that blew through them was awful, and virtually shook the walls......

The MAIN OUT was at about -60dB when that noise came out of them, louder than I thought possible from my rig!

Same thing happens via the Phones output as well (Main output is routed to both, so...).

I tried first to re-flash the firmware, but it verifies it as already done. I then trashed the drivers and all prefs/apps, right down to the Audio-MIDI Setup devices, and clean-reinstalled the Universal 1.4.3 drivers / console update..... but the situation remains as-is... On/Off/BLAST/Silence... randomly as the MAIN VOL knob turns...

Three more weird things along with that....

First: after clean-reinstalling the drivers, I dragged the CueMix & Audio Setup apps from the Applications folder to the Dock, and launched them from there... But when I launch, a duplicate application icon appears in the dock! The one I clicked isn't the one that launches, apparently. "Show in Finder" reveals the running versions are located inside the ~/System/Library/Extensions/MOTUFireWireAudio.kext extension package... (?????)

Second: In addition to random volume changes, I also get random metering on the UL face... sometimes, only one side or the other of the main out meters is showing audio... and sometimes there is audio coming out of only one headphone speaker at a time.... sometimes no audio output but meters are moving, sometimes audio but no meters.... sometimes stereo, sometimes mono..... (?????)

Third: Just before updating the drivers, my CueMix Console reported as version 1.5.... after the install, it reports as version 1.4... (?????)

This situation is seriously FUBAR'd.....

I certainly can't expect the shop where I bought the UL to replace it, as it's been something like 6 months (or more?) since I bought it?

Come on MOTU! Emergency fix time!!

peace,
tribalogical

*BUMP*

Any news on this???

I have written MOTU support, but no answer yet. Meanwhile, my UltraLite is basically non-functional.....

Not good, not good at all.................

I wrote to MOTU support on Monday morning.... 3 days later, still no reply...

That is not good form...

I've reverted to using my KORE audio I/O as an emergency fall back, but its pretty limited by comparison.

I need my UltraLite back up and running! What the hell...........

I paid over $500 for the thing less than 6 months ago..... and right now it's not much more than a very stylish doorstop. Unacceptable!

(Ironically, I had been singing MOTU praises at the Big Blue Lounge just days before this happened, "highly recommending" the UltraLite of all things... I am on the verge of reversing that position..... a sharp 180 degrees....)

I hope this gets sorted VERY soon......

Now I have used my ultralite for a while since I got it downgraded to 1.00 firmware...
But now I am experiencing a noise each time I send out MIDI-information through the MIDI interface on the Ultralite...
That did not happen before... it is really annoying.

It sounds like it is some kind of driverproblem again...

"Through Struggle we accomplish great things!"

Thanks

I'm also getting a bit of background (very quiet chattering) noise from my monitors when loading Live sets (initilaizing MIDI channels, audio outputs, etc?)... I don't use the UL for MIDI though, so I'm not sure it's specifically related.....

Yes, this is not good, although not the same level of "showstopper" the random volume-shifting thing was.....

I hope they get all this sorted soon!

So...what's the word.

I was sure I was going to get an UltraLite here in the next couple of days (love my 828 mkII btw) for the port-a-rig.

But are they all belly-up now? or is everyone happy to the point of no longer making noise over a bunk upgrade?

I really am quite curious as to how this is playing-out for UL owners.
